This is now fixed. It's not a pretty fix but it works. The best way would be to show the files in a simple window with a scroll bar. But since no such window exists in the language interface file (English.lng) I can't add one.

So, now the program generates a text file with the files listed and the file is opened in Notepad, it works just like the Show backed up entries feature.

This bug is now fixed. It took this long because I didn't first fully understand the nature of the problem and then I couldn't quite make up my mind what would be the best way to fix it.

I installed the code and clicked on registry cleaner, i get a popup window saying i am currently running this program without administrator privileges. Using the registry cleaner without administrator privileges is not recommended.

Registry Compactor errors out saying 'this feature can only be used with administrators privileges.

I am logged in with a userid that definitely does have admin rights. :?

FF & DF won't sort if System Volume Information

The Directory column in File Finder and Directory Finder does not sort in the cases shown in the screenshots. It is not a function of the string length since the column sorts for "C:\Documents and Settings\..." with even longer strings. The other columns sort.

FF & DF "Search in" was "C:\System Volume Information"

FF "Files to find" was *.* with an ignore word of a00.

DF "Directories to find" was *rp*

You can use the directory you want but "C:\Program Files\jv16 PowerTools 2006" is recommended.

This may be nothing but I was comparing the entries in msconfig with the startup manager in JV Powertools RC5. I have an entry in msconfig that shows a blank name and a blank command. The registry key is points to is HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. When I navigate to that entry in the registry the only thing there is an entry that says Default and has no data associated with it. All other startup items appear as expected. Should the Startup Manager detect this entry and list it?

That item is in my registry also, though there is no blank item showing in msconfig.

It is just a "placeholder" in case there are no entry-names under the key.

Compare to:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce and HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEX

It would serve no purpose listed in Startup Manager, in my opinion.

You might try unchecking it in msconfig. Maybe it will drop from a subsequent msconfig list.

This is not a bug, the PT 2006 only lists valid startup entries.

There is a strange bug described here: http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=4282#4282 having to do with using a default registry editor with a name other than regedit.exe.

Even if the named program is actually a renamed regedit.exe.
