The jv16 PowerTools 2006 Beta4 will be released on Thursday (9.2). If the Beta4 goes well the next released version is RC1.

jv16 PowerTools 2006 Beta4 released. You can download it from:

http://www.macecraft.com/downloads/betas/pt2006/jv16pt_setup_beta4.exe

Don't install it over any old version.

Release notes:

* All the features should now be fully working, including the Registry Compactor.

* The language interface (English.lng) has been modified, therefore the included translations are not perfect. The language interface might still be modified.

* The product still contains a lot of debug code, so don't get scared if you get error message popups, just report and forget them.

Warning: The Registry Cleaner feature of the jv16 PowerTools 2006 betas (including Beta4) contains a serious bug which causes valid items to be listed as errors.

Please restore all the generated registry backups if you have used the Registry Cleaner. Don't use the Registry Cleaner feature before a fixed version is released later in this week.

Great job JV everything looks good so far. The gui bugs i reported are gone and the registry compactor seems to work perfect now. Ran the compaction and then checked ith with regcompactor.net and all the hives where 100% defragmented :) Im gonna test the hell outta it theres gotta be a bug somewhere round here :

I am still seeing a few double entries in the software manager. The items are identical except for the dates. All of the programs are from the same company, is this suppossed to show multiple entries like this.

The registry cleaner is now working fine.

The tooltip for the registry manager still says that you can manage startup programs from the registry manager.

The software manager is a little difficult to sort through since most programs show up once with unknown and once with the company name. Need a better way to keep these together.

I ran the registry cleaner and registry compactor through the ringers and they seem to wrk great here. I'm going to run the other tools through the ringers and test them hard to see if I can find a bug. So far it's smooth and works good here. ;)

Is everything showing double entrys? Some software will have double entrys due to different registry settings some will even have more then double if the dates are different then there going to show up differently

In the settings I checked: "Enable the manual savings ..." and " "Automaticaly remember the last settings".

I saved my preference: "Agressive and normal Mode". Closing PT and then restart it gives the following behaviour:

When I open Registry Cleaner the first time the option window shows: "Saved preferences" but nor "Normal" nor "Agressive" is checked.

Closing the Option window and restarting RegCleaner a second time shows "Saved preferences" and "Agressive" checked as I saved it.

When I open Start-up Manager and then do "Select" => "All", the background of the Items window becomes grey instead of blue, as in other utilities.

Only when I click in the window the background color becomes blue.

I did a Registry snapshot with RegMonitor (of course : ). In there my Registry shows 25.1 M.

When I look in Registry Info I only see a total Regsize of 12.7 M.

Are this two different "shoes" ?

I have noticed running Registry Compactor, the HKLM\SECURITY hive, that gave issues in the beta3, is gone now.

I suppose jv16 did so as a solution for the mentioned problems with "SECURITY"-hive.

No problem for me (us), because it concerned a rather small hive (52 KB I guess) that seemed to be never fragmented (always 100% optimization when starting Regcompact.NET) :

It is only for a few items so I wasn't sure if this was suppossed to happen or not. Most likely it is as you say and just different registry items for the same program.

When the program is minimized and then restored the main window covers the tool window. Shouldn't the tool window be set to always be on top because some windows are smaller than the main window and you have to drag the main window to the side to access the tool window. Once again the windows aren't being put into separate taskbar items they are grouped under one taskbar button when minimized.

Registry Finder creates empty backup....

- Run registry finder in artificial intelligent search mode

- All other settings default

- Single search word

- Get about 130 resulting entries

- Do select all

- Manually de-select about 3-5 entries

- Execute remove (jv16 is configured to ask for backup name)

- Backup tool shows entry (but size only 200 bytes and type 'unknown')

- Going to real directory shows that there is the index.dat but no .reg
