I'm glad to hear you like the new user interface! Could you give exact steps how you can reproduce the GUI freezing issue? As in, first click to open this tool, then wait it to run, then do something etc? This would allow us to better address the problem. We do know there are some issues with the new user interface (especially some flickering while moving around tools) but I think what you are describing is a new kind of bug we are not aware of.

Unfortunately, I'm not able to reproduce results exactly anymore.

Since I sent you my post (19.03.01) I executed the beta on 3rd March again.

On 3rd of March MS installed the KB4482887 update (OS Build 17763.348) on my computer (Windows 10, version 1809).

Although staying away from causal connections, something has changed.

Whenever I click on "Speed and Cleanup my Computer" a Delphi debugging Message appears (suppose it's Delphi).

I sent you the corresponding a crash/bug report via mail on 3rd of March (included "send bug report" button).

This error is reproducable now whenever I click on the particular option mentioned above.

Please tell me if you still need this bug report.

However, excluding the option "Speed and Cleanup my computer" the main issue is still reproducable.

I did the following in particular:

-open program - welcome pic appears - intitialising seems to be sucessful

- in the main screen I click e.g. on "Uninstall Software and Leftovers"

- main screen shows "Scanning..."

- now (before scanning is complete) I move the mouse arrow to the menu bar

- click on menu option "Tools"

- click on subitem "Optimize my Internet connection" in the expansion list

- main screen shows "Analyzing..."

At this point the GUI freezes - jv16PowerTools becomes unresponsible.

Two scenarios now:

1.After a wait of about 2 min the GUI becomes responsible again.

- Sometimes everything works well then

- But sometimes (without any reason I'm aware of) , when clicking at any entry in the menu bar response time to expand the particular menu optin is massively delayed (about 2-5 secs).

2. GUI stays unresponsible

- Close jv16PowerTools through the upper-right "X" button --> program closes

- Close jv16PowerTools through the upper-right "X" button --> a well-known windows message appears "jv16 PowerTools does not Respond --> Close program --> wait for response"

Still, more detailled info is needed?

Greetings! Just installed the Beta version. Install was straight forward, quick and easy. The UI is clean and the scan was quick coming up with 2,836 issues which, I did not have cleaned but rather, closed it out and ran v. 4.2.0.2005 and came up with 51 issues which were cleaned up. Re-ran the Beta and came up with 2,834 issues. The difference in scans being only two temp files addressed.

I like the Beta UI! I also think the Beta did a faster scan. One thing I do like about the old UI is the pre-scan System Health info. I would like seeing something like that in the final version.

Installed the beta with no issues.

The only tools that worked are;

Clean and Speed - 14,792 items found.

Optimize Internet Conn. - got error saying to make sure my connection is working. I ran this twice, same result.

Uninstaller - 1 left over and 127 installed programs found.

As with other testers, the beta version finds thousands of more problems following a cleaning with the current version using the default scan.

I do have a couple of comments with version 5.0.0.76 -

1. there doesn't seem to be any obvious ways to stop a scan. Scans may take some time so if you inadvertently start one, it would be nice to be able to easily stop it without having to wait for it to finish.

2. from the Temporary File list the beta program seems to be searching for files with .reg, .chk, .GID, .*$, ~*.*, and probably others. If you don't want such files to be flagged, can the Ignore List be used to pass such files by? Can wild-card entries (*s) be used in the Ignore List?

3. under Settings/Scanning/Domain whitelist, how are the initial entries determined? Some but not all of the sites where I would want cookies/history retained were automatically populated into the list. I can manually add others but wonder how the initial list was made. Also, there appear to be 15 or more entries and I can't scroll down to the end of the box to see the rest.

4. when cleaning Browser Data it is all or nothing on the selections for cookies/history unless there in an entry in the whitelist. With 14-thousand entries in my case I certainly don't want to look at them one-by-one. But will there be any way to look at some subset of the items selected to see what is being cleaned?

5. after the main scan is completed, you can expand the categories but then you have to individually select the items you want cleaned. I assume there will be a way to select all the items in a category.

6. I like the Optimize my Internet Connection tool. Should make my browsing 76% faster.

7. one of the tools from the current version of PowerTools that I like is File Tools/Mass rename files. Sometimes this tool didn't work as expected when doing a Find and Replace - a version number would be added to the new file name as well as the text replacement. This didn't happen every time so I can't give any more detail. But when it did, it was annoying trying many attempts to get the tool to work correctly. Maybe you could look into this for the new version.

I still keep going to the beta version trying it out and am quite impressed at the easy way it comes together. look forward to the next stage.

The new UI is nice and the speed improvements are definitely an improvement. Like others I am concerned about the dramatic increase of found problems with the Clean and Speed up My Computer.
