jv16 PowerTools - New Major Version - Beta 1

Hello.

I'm stuck at the first splash screen after install. Reboot does not help.

But the old version 4.1.0.1758 starts normally.

I have just run the "Clean and speed up" and on the first try it showed up 15557 errors, I used the early version of JV16X to perform the same and it had 28 errors which I cleaned and then went into windows explorer and options and got rid of cookies etc. and tried again to see if it made a difference and it did 15570 errors????.

I notice that when I run the uninstall module it finds JV16 X and (JV16 2017 which has been uninstalled some time ago because of the slowness) but this beta keeps flashing up "not responding"

Are you perhaps using some kind of firewall software? Or could some other software, such as anti-virus software be monitoring (blocking) the internet access?

Really nice and user friendly interface now.

Whenever you start any of the actions (click in the main screen) but decide to switch to another action via menu during running checks, the GUI freezes and interaction is impossible. Sometimes the program closes afterwards, sometimes switching to another action is sucessful after several minutes.

However, after sucessful switching (means the program didn't close) the menu options response interval for mouse clicks is much more delayed than before.

I'm glad to hear you like the new user interface! Could you give exact steps how you can reproduce the GUI freezing issue? As in, first click to open this tool, then wait it to run, then do something etc? This would allow us to better address the problem. We do know there are some issues with the new user interface (especially some flickering while moving around tools) but I think what you are describing is a new kind of bug we are not aware of.

I'm afraid it seems you have downloaded the wrong file, as the screenshot is from the old jv16 PowerTools, not from the new Beta 1 version (which also does not include the File Organizer tool).

Noted, thank you for reporting! We will work with the anti-virus companies to ask them to fix this false positive detection. The AutoUpdater.exe is a part of jv16 PowerTools, it will automatically update the program to the latest version without the user having to download or install anything. (if this automatic updates feature is enabled, that is).

As the new jv16 PowerTools contains an entirely re-written cleaning engine, it is expected that it will display a different number of results than any previous version. Especially since the new version also cleans browser history and cookie data and the old versions do not. That being said, there can be some incorrect detections as we have not yet fully tested the new engine (which is exactly why the Beta 1 is provided as "read only", without the ability to actually clean or fix anything).

Could you be so kind and zip the \Debug folder (at C:\Program files (x86)\jv16 PowerTools Beta1\Debug) and upload it to for example wetransfer.com and send me the link either here or via a forum private message? That would allow us to analyze the CSMC results and to see if there are any obvious mistakes and also to see if there is any indication in the debug logs as to why the Internet Optimizer tool fails. It should work normally even with VPN active, as long as the internet connection is not filtered or firewalled.

- Temp files: 60 issues

- Registry: 270 errors

- Browser data: 1 issues

(Also, of the items you mentioned as incorrectly listed entries, the debug log data would allow us to see which module of the CSMC actually detected these are errors and why, so it would help us to fix the problem.)

"Clean and Speedup My Computer" use cache instead renew the search. After deleting *.tmp files per hand, this tool listed not existing files.

That would allow us to see exactly where the Initial Setup gets stuck in your computer, plus it would allow us to create a testing system similar to your computer to test this and future versions. Especially since the new version also cleans browser history and cookie data and the old versions do not. I suspect many of these found items are either browser history or cookie data, or temporary files not found by the old jv16 PowerTools.

Noted, thank you! We are seeing the "not responding" issue in some of our testing systems but as it is mainly a cosmetic issue, we decided not to fix it for the beta 1 version (and work on other things instead). We have today started to work on fixing this issue, thank you for reporting!
