Update .....
Have now re-installed 1738 version on PC1 with the following results.
PC1 - worked OK with 1728 - reloaded 1738 (no reboot), worked once (Clean and Speed Up My Computer), rebooted PC (part of Clean Up process), started jv16 again and program hung (Not Responding, 30 minutes, no change) - see Event Report below. Cancelled and restarted jv16, same result. Turned computer off, rebooted 30 minutes later, ran 1738 build 3 times, used all main menu items with no problems. Fault gone away.
PC2 - had not reverted to 1728 version - after the program failed to start yesterday, ran jv16 3 times (Clean and Speed Up My Computer) - did not fail.
