Here is the RC3 of jv16 PowerTools 2014:

Please read the following before downloading

Please, please please do remember that this is Release Candidate level software. This means that this version has been made available for testing purposes. The idea is, that people try the software out and give us feedback on what parts of the program still need some fine tuning. This version may still contain bugs and can potentially damage your computer and cause hair loss.

It is not recommended to run this software in work or production use computer, and whatever you do, always create a system backup before running beta level software. If you do not do so, please do not complain to us about it.

As always, we will give out free licenses to the best beta testers. If such a beta tester already owns a license we can also issue VIP and Platinum VIP packages for free, or other similar prizes for the trouble.

However, you are not entitled for any kind of free license by simply downloading these test versions and reporting that all is fine. Free licenses are given out only to beta testers who give us valuable feedback, such as bug reports or improvement ideas. We will publish the list of users who won a free license after the final version of the product has been released, not before. All free licenses are decided on case-by-case, sometimes it takes just one message with two lines to earn a license (e.g. if you found a really good bug that no one else reported), sometimes it takes much more.

How to send your feedback

* Please use the Post Reply button of this thread for all feedback.

* If you are reporting a bug, please give as much information as possible in regards what steps are required to reproduce the problem. Also let us know what version of Windows you are using. There is no need to post the hardware configuration of your computer, unless asked.

* You can send attachments, including screenshots, to the thread from the Post Reply > Upload attachment tab (below the main text area). To attach the DebugLog.html file, you need to zip it up first.

* If you are reporting a bug that is not obvious, please include the Debug Log to your report. Note: the Debug Log contains information about your computer, if you do not wish other users to see all this information, you can use the Private Messages feature to send the Debug Log to us.

* If you are reporting a False Positive by the Registry Cleaner (or by "Clean and fix my computer" tool), there is no need to send a Debug Log, this version does not have debug log enabled for the Registry Cleaner to show its true performance. To report a False Positive, simply send a Screenshot of the False Positive, and say what settings of the Registry Cleaner you are using.

* You can also send you general feedback, how you feel the program works for you or if there is something you don't understand, or if some feature doesn't work the way you expected. Feedback like this is sometimes even more valuable than bug reports.

What's New (compared to PowerTools 2013)

1. Supercharged new system cleaning engine that will find more junk from your system than ever before.

2. Improved Registry Cleaner's and Clean and Fix My Computer tool's ability to remove protected registry and file system data. And if they do fail to remove data, they will automatically setup the data to be removed during the next system restart.

3. Added a new feature to the Software Uninstaller called Forced Uninstall, it will perform a software uninstallation on system restart to allow a complete removal of even the most nasty software. If this feature cannot uninstall a software, nothing can!

4. Clean and Fix My Computer can now setup a Registry Compact to be performed during next system restart.

5. Clean and Fix My Computer's more aggressive run modes now have the same level of aggression as the Registry Cleaner, before Clean and Fix My Computer did not perform all the scans of the Registry Cleaner.

6. Highly improved new software leftover detection engine introduced to the Software Uninstaller.

7. Added option to remove any directories and files during system restart.

8. Improved the accuracy of the Safety Net system that ensures the registry cleaner engine doesn't ever remove data that it shouldn't.

9. Hundreds of small fixes, performance tweaks and user interface improvements!

Windows 8 x64 Professional, Windows 7 x86 Professional, jv16 2014 RC3

The Advanced Option shown in the picture is not saved. I can set it ON, close jv16, restart jv16 and the setting is showing OFF.jv16PT_debuglog.zip

Confirmed and fixed, nice catch! The fix will be included to the next released build.

This is on Windows 8 x64 Professional, jv16 RC3 Registry Cleaner...most aggressive setting.

jv16 Registry Cleaner encountered an Access Violation on closing, hung in memory, and had to be manually closed via Task Manager.

- I had run the registry cleaner, normal mode, most aggressive setting.

- I deleted several detected keys

- I had 2 keys that I selected to "Never Show Again".

- When I exited the Registry Cleaner, the window closed and then an "Access Violation" error message was generated.

Attached is a debuglog . I also have a full .DMP file; however, it is 132 mbytes zipped. If you want it, I can send it via your instructions as to how/where to send.

The program jv16PT.exe version 3.2.0.1324 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Attached is another debuglog of the above posted crash with the registry cleaner on Fast mode.

UPDATE: This crash occurs only if DEBUG mode is ON. The registry cleaner closing works okay without a crash if DEBUG mode is OFF.

Using W7-x64-SP1 Professional with jv162014_RC3

With or without DEBUG mode, using Fast mode or Normal mode, I cannot reproduce this Access Violation.

It seems to be a W8-x64 issue only?

Agreed, This issue was already reported for jv16PT2013 but not fixed in the latest jv16PT2013 build 1267!

Any word on this? This si still not fixed.

Even without DEBUG mode a Bugreport.txt is normally created in the jv16PT214_RC3 installation directory.

Live Support

The background window should on top. See a screenshot below.

Steps to reproduction:

1. Uncheck "Automatically check for the availability of Live Support", 2. Restart PowerTools,

3. Click "Help" -> "Live Support"

Filter panel

The Filter panel is not displayed well after certain operations. See a picture below. This issue occurs also in the other tools.

Steps to reproduction:

1st Run the Duplicate File Finder, 2nd Show the Filter panel, 3rd Click Select -> All, 4th The Filter panel is not displayed well, 5th Hold your mouse over the Filter panel, 6th Click Select -> None, or Inverse, or Highlighted,

7th The Filter panel is not displayed well.

Probably only on Windows Vista SP2...

What texts exactly? The texts are translated using the section of the translation file.

Here are two registry keys that appear to be false detections on locally installed MS Office 2013 on Windows 8 x64 Pro. The actual CLSIDs are enclosed as HKCR and HKLM. This is using CFMC at most aggressive setting.

Confirmed for W7-x64-SP1 with jv16PT2014_RC3.

During Initial Setup/Quick Tutorial, deleting other installed translations does not work.

The check box 'delete other translations, I will only use this language' can NOT be checked!
