Registry Cleaner hangs on removing large block of invalid keys. This on Windows 7 x86 Professional. Registry cleaner has to be manually aborted. A bug report is also included of a CFMC crash when attempting to delete these keys. Registry Cleaner will crash also. These detected keys are in fact valid detections that should be removed.

It should be fixed. If I send you private test build to confirm the fix, would you be able to give it a quick run just to verify the fix?

No this is not fixed on the special private build. It doesn't hang now, it crashes instead. Attached are debug logs. This run is on Windows 8 x64 Professional.

1. Private build DEBUG mode, now a freeze immediately at fixing found items of Registry Cleaner.

2. Registry cleaner NO DEBUG mode fixing found items runs repeatedly in an Access Violation.

W7-x64-SP1 Laptop (NO floppy disk drive):

1. Private build: Registry cleaner with backup fixing the found 12 "invalid file or directory items" runs immediately and repeatedly in the same Access Violation application error.

2. Private build: CFMC with backup fixing the same found 12 "invalid file or directory items" completes normal and the taken backup can be restored.

When I ran Registry Cleaner when it finished I clicked on fix and it crashed.

During installation, during/after the 'Initial Setup', I got a 'Range check application error'.

After a few seconds the installation finished by itself.

1. Registry cleaner only found 32 items 'Invalid file or directory reference'. I tried to 'Fix' all 32 items. Immediately I got the 'Range check error', now a Bugreport.txt was made.

2. The same is true for CFMC trying to 'Fix' the found 24 'Invalid file or directory reference'

(CFMC only finds 24 'Invalid file or directory reference' items, not 32 like Registry cleaner!)

the Range Check Error_PB2 bugreport contains both the CFMC and Registry cleaner application error.

Same results as on my laptop.

Both CFMC and Registry cleaner run into a 'Range check application error'

This is on Windows 8 x64 Professional, jv16 Private Build 2.

The registry cleaner promptly crashes just as it is beginning to scan. This is when Registry Cleaner is started via the main GUI>Registry Tools>Registry Cleaner. The scanner is on the most aggressive scan. The scan mode is set to Normal. It appears that the crash does not occur if the scanning mode is set to Fast. Update: Yes, it does crash in Fast mode.

This appears to be fixed in Private Build 3. Registry Cleaner is no longer crashing.

Fix process now runs OK, the taken backups can be restored.

W7-x64-SP1 Home Premium with Private3 on my desktop WITH floppy disk drive.

For both CFMC and Registry cleaner the 'Range check application errors' during the fix process are gone.

Unfortunately during the fixing of ONLY the 'Invalid file or directory reference' items the EMPTY floppy disk drive is still searched very very very often.

EDITED: A:\ was added to the global ignore list before the above test was executed.

W7-x64-SP1 with Private3

CFMC fixing 668 temporary files (with backup) is noticeably slowing down during the progress to the end.

Whole process takes a few minutes.

Same is true for the restore of the taken backup.

The green progress bar is already at 100%, but the restore process still continues for quite a while.

Windows 7 x86 Professional, MS Office 2010, Jv16 Private Build 3

In the attachment are 2 keys that are falsely detected for Microsoft Office 2010. jv16 registry cleaner is not properly interpreting what "Office." is.

This is on Windows 8 x64 Professional. The registry cleaner hangs up when it encounters a permissions problem when deleting a key. Shown is one key that causes this hang. The response by jv16 is erratic. A couple of times it acted like it was successful in setting up to delete the key on reboot. It recommended a reboot. On reboot, I saw a CMD window flash by. The result of that CMD window was that it did not delete the registry key. It caused me to start having to re-enter the login password...which I had bypassed as the preference for my system. I had to go back into User Account and uncheck "User must enter a user name and password to use this computer".

This is still not fixed in Private Build 3. It does force a reboot and then CMD window runs. It still wipes out the setting in User Account Control that allows the system to boot on up without having to enter the log-in password. Plus it did something that causes program SnagIt 11 to crash. SnagIt 11 had to be uninstalled and re-installed.

This is on Windows 8 x64 Pro, Windows 7 x86 Pro, jv16 Private Build 3.

Under Settings>Advanced, the setting "If data cannot be removed, do not attempt to remove it on system startup" will not stay check marked or set.

As a question to jv16,

"if the above settings is set ON, will it keep jv16 registry cleaner from forcing a reboot to remove a specific registry key"?
