jv16 PowerTools 2014 Release Candidate 2

This is on Windows 8 x64 Professional. The registry cleaner hangs up when it encounters a permissions problem when deleting a key. Shown is one key that causes this hang. The response by jv16 is erratic. A couple of times it acted like it was successful in setting up to delete the key on reboot. It recommended a reboot. On reboot, I saw a CMD window flash by. The result of that CMD window was that it did not delete the registry key. It caused me to start having to re-enter the login password...which I had bypassed as the preference for my system. I had to go back into User Account and uncheck "User must enter a user name and password to use this computer".

Problem with PowerTools. I ran Clean and Fix my computer and there was a problem that required restart. When i pressed X button to close it a pop up reminder came up to tell me to restart now as normal but when i clicked NO the program restarted Windows anyway! It happens every time! I did it three times to confirm. Windows Pro x64. Also a window came up complaining about instruction set at a certain memory location before restarting. Debug log with the problem is attached.

You said Windows Pro x64. What version of Windows are you using? That will help.

Filter panel

The Filter panel is not displayed well after certain operations. See a picture below. This issue occurs also in the other tools.

Steps to reproduction:

1st Run the Duplicate File Finder, 2nd Show the Filter panel, 3rd Click Select -> All, 4th The Filter panel is not displayed well, 5th Hold your mouse over the Filter panel, 6th Click Select -> None, or Inverse, or Highlighted,

7th The Filter panel is not displayed well.

Edit: Probably only on Windows Vista SP2...

2nd Click "Help" -> "Live Support"

-After clicking 'Abort' the Disk wipe task continues in the background (as shown by the Task Manager) until the free space wiping is finished.

-Closing the 'jv16PT Main window' finishes the running Task manager process (jv16PT.exe).

-The green progress bar is not following the Disk wipe process correctly. Wiping process completed successful when the progress bar showed ~60% completion.

After clicking 'Abort' the File Recovery task continues in the background (as shown by the Task Manager) until the recovery is finished.

Closing the 'jv16PT Main window' finishes the running Task manager process (jv16PT.exe).

Agreed, This issue was already reported for jv16PT2013 but not fixed in the latest jv16PT2013 build 1267!

Closing jv16PT RC2 caused an 'access violation'. This is randomly on Windows Vista SP2.

Steps to "reproduction":


1. Run PowerTools
2. Run Registry Cleaner
3. Click on the Abort button immediately
4. Close PowerTools
5. The access violation

W7-x64-SP1 with jv162014_RC2

A few access violations, all during the fix process using CFMC or Registry cleaner.

Clean and Fix My Computer falsely detects PowerShell.exe as not present. Please see the attached registry entries. These are not detected by Registry Cleaner with the same settings. This is a "Not Fixed" from RC1 even though it is stated as being fixed.

Sorry about that, it is now fixed. Thank you for re-reporting it! The fix will be included to the next released version.
