Hopefully without duplicates as the program, itself, has the capabilities to delve into a file and handle data. This would be the ideal situation, wouldn't it? But this is just my opinion.

The registered license.xbin file for the jv16PT-2011 version can be used during the jv16PT-2012 beta testing period.

It is a great relief to know that the Immunization feature of the host file is done by a merging process..

This makes jv16 that much of a better and greater product than other maintenance /registry software’s …

Especially, Knowing :

that now jv16 makes it possible to “update” the host file periodically. Something that is a “big” addition to an already great product…

Another question..?.

There are good reasons why some software are installed .. Outside… of the programs / windows… environment.

What is meant by this …?

Normal install location = C:\Program Files\jv16 PowerTools 2012 Beta2… (Environment)

Directly to Hard Drive = C:\jv16 PowerTools 2012 Beta2…. (Non-Environment)

Which is the preferred and / or optimal environmental location for jv16…?

Well, just give it a try. If it works you do not get the 'trial version' message anymore in jv16PT-2012 beta.

But my point is that beta 2 is not yet the finished/final jv16PT-20112 product.

Because of that I would like to know if it is the design goal for this new 'Immunization feature' to do a compare & merge for the entries to be added, resulting in a 'hosts file' without duplicates entries!

The contents are merged; your custom hosts entries should stay untouched.

Sorry, missed that post. The tool is supposed to not add entries that are duplicates of already existing ones. However, duplicates already existing in the file (before the tool is used) will be left intact. Since you're getting duplicate entries I will review the duplicate checking code.

I installed the MVPS hosts, then ran the Immunize tool.

Basically, Immunize added its own hosts, not checking for existing matching entries.

I used the HostsMan tool to clean up the hosts file and eliminate the duplicates.

Sorry for the lack of updates, here is what we have been doing lately:

Bug fix: SetAppID.exe can show an error message or crash after jv16 PowerTools has been installed. Bug fix: Backup Tool: The Abort button of all three icons does nothing. Also, it stays red after clicked. Bug fix: Immunization tool doesn't show the number of lines to be added correctly. Bug fix: Tip in the Anti-Malware´s window should be moved down and it should be changed to plural ("... directories to these boxes."). Bug fix: Go to main window ->settings -> 'Integration with windows' -> Icons in Jump/start menu -> check item -> click OK. After the "specified path not found" application error the application can now be 'continued', 'restarted' or 'closed'. However the checked 'icon item' is now unchecked and that item is not added to the Jump/Start menu. Bug fix: Open the Immunization feature and then closing it. Upon reopening the Immunization feature it generates an repeatable Access Violation error. Bug fix: Go to main window ->'settings' -> 'Integration with windows' -> 'Icons in Jump/start menu' -> check the 'Backup' item -> click Ok. Only after the sequence close+start+close of jv16PT the Clean and fix my Computer icon shows up in the Jump/Start menu. Clicking on this CFMC icon however starts the jv16PT Backup function! Bug fix: File Recovery: all the boxes (rectangles) must contain some numbers or text, even with "Look only for files of specific size" disabled, if not you get the warning I mentioned in my original post and the tool does not work. Bug fix: Action History does not show adding a new startup item in the Startup Manager. Bug fix: The Immunization tool can add duplicate items to the hosts file if the hosts file already contains data. Improvement: It's now possible to tell the Immunization tool to not to block certain websites, like Google ads. Improvement: You can no setup the program to run the Immunization tool automatically every time PowerTools starts.

Has anyone else noticed the History Cleaner results box continually grows larger in the downward direction? It's a slow thing, but it does require periodic resizing of the window, else, it will grow below my screen :|

This could be unique to my set-up. The Task Bar is set (height-wise) for showing the date in three separate vertical lines: 1. Time. 2. Day of the week. 3. Full date in numerals. I always set my Task Bar as such.

This is actually something I've noticed in JVPT for several years. It's just now that I'm getting around to typing something about it (somethings take a back-seat). I've had a few different video cards on this machine, so it would not appear to be video card/driver thing, but, who knows?

I'm *not* having any issues with the counting bug as I did before (rejoice!). However, the window does blackout after each selection movement. Perhaps I don't fully understand what the counting bug is. It seems not to matter whether the screen is in full mode or reduced.

Confirmed for both XP-SP3 and W7-x86 for e.g. 'Registry cleaner' and 'CFMC' scan result windows.

I noticed this particularly on my W7-x86 notebook with a small 11.6" display.

Every so many day's I have to move the bottom line of the scan window a little bit upwards (re-size). Not a big thing, but yes it happens.

I finally ran the Unit Testing Tool and discovered that 5 errors were detected; attached is a copy of the report.

(which are indicated to have severity ratings of 35% to 80% ane which were apparently installed on 2_11_2006, which was a year prior to the date of manufacture of my laptop notebook). I tried uninstalling Java software and Word Perfect Office X4, however, those efforts had no effect on these registry entries.

I performed the Immunization procedure as recommended and added the 14,573 items (total - 14,575); as there is no manual available, the question is: how to remove them and would their presence have anything to do with the fact that I am unable to run several of the Microsoft FixIt Center testing programs?
