It looks like the symptoms arise because the Registry Monitor FileType backup is incorrect.

-Downloaded & installed the latest Beta 2 (never used Beta 1 - in fact I've been away from jv16 PT since 2009 and just decided to see what y'all are up to new today!)

-After the install the initial setup proceedure completed fine under WIndows XP SP3 (no issues)

-My PC Health was reported as 92%

-My Registry Health was reported as 84%

-Machine has a relatively fresh OS install and I've not used a registry cleaner or similar utlities on it until this today. I installed and uninstalled some non-related programs earlier and wanted to see what the remnants were, if any

To test stability I ran the Registry Cleaner in the safest mode possible for about 10 seconds and then immediately aborted using the "Abort" button. All was fine. No crashes or delays of any kind, and the program went back to the Home start screen as desired. However, my PC Health was now at 100% as was my Registry Health! I didn't do anything else nor did I allow any changes. I closed the program and restarted it and I was still at 100%. I restarted Windows XP and then restarted the program and I was still at 100%. Only after I let a scan completely run did I get another true approximation of the PC & Registry Health meters (again 92% and 84% as the initial setup showed too). To be sure I ran another scan and aborted it later, but prior to finishing, and again I was at 100% without making any changes.

I'm not sure this is a serious bug, but if it stays at 100% until a scan is completed one might think their system is fine and not know THEY caused the incorrect meter readings. What actions or time periods trigger a retest of PC Health & Registry Health? Would the program have re-evaluated these after a set time if nothing else was done?

Running the Registry Cleaner with the safest method (slider all the way to the top) results in success each time, but when running it in the normal method (slider one spot down, as most of us will likely use it) it either crashes, freezes with a "This application seems to be frozen" pop-up window, or after an hour it still is analyzing the data so I try to abort and close jv16 PT altogether. I've run it 8 times now without success. After it freezes , crashes or is continually analyzing and I end it (forcefully as it never closes easily) the home screen will show my PC & Registry Health at 1% for both, even after restarting. I could not ever get a debug report at all so I finally used the second method and created a debugmode.dat file instead. During that attempt to recreate the issue I got the "This application seems to be frozen" pop-up window, but while observing that data for about 10 minutes or so the program just unfroze itself, the "This application seems to be frozen" pop-up window disappeared on its own, and the analyzing continued (and continued, and continued...)! I eventually aborted and tried to close the program but it wasn't responding. Task Manager had one hell of a time closing it but after many tries it was able to end the program. I think I will wait for a few more Betas down the line before I attempt a "normal" scan again or try any advanced scanning at all. I wanted to post a copy of the debugmode.dat file but it was empty! Clicking on the debuglog.html file on the desktop at any time and after each event crashed IE8 when I try to view it too. I even tried copying it to run on another system and it crashed IE8 there too. Therefore, I have nothing to show you to document my trials. 'Sorry. Like I said I'll wait for maybe Beta 4 or 5 and try this again for you. Maybe it will work, or at the very least maybe I'll have something to send you as documentation if this continues. For now I'll uninstall jv16 PT 2011 Beta2 and instead try your 2010 version to see if my issues remain (and then might be system related) or are specific to the 2011 Beta as I suspect now.

Could you try to run it in Windows Safe Mode?

As a XP-SP3 beta tester I can say that your encounterred problems did not happen to me in neither beta1 nor beta2.

I run Registry Cleaner in either Normal mode or one notch Aggressive, without the problems you mentioned.

Each application error (freeze, accress violation,..etc..) created or updated the 'Bugreport.txt' file in the jv16PT installation directory (contains max. 4 bug reports).

I could always open the files 'Bugreport.txt' and 'Debug log.html' (on the desktop) with the windows editor Notepad.

It took me pretty much one day of work but I finally got this fixed. Could you please confirm the fix with the next build? Thanks! I also fixed a few other cosmetic issues from the File Encryption tool. These will be detailed in the Change Log.

It takes way too long to populate the list of certain file tools (File Tool, for example). It seems to be refreshing the empty results window for every file, and perhaps even for every column of every file that will eventually show in the list. The empty window flashes white, then black, for many minutes. Still happens in v.2.0.0.989. While this goes on, which can be for many minutes even with a very small complete list showing, the results list will not close. The CPU shows 25% for jv18pt.exe. To end it early, you have to use "end process." Awaiting developer response.

This should be fixed in the next build.

On Windows 7 x86 Pro, the Startup Manager loads its data in less that 15 seconds. On Windows 7 x64 Pro, the Startup Manager takes 3.5 minutes to load its data. Please there are a large number of errors in the Debug log. And at the bottom of debug log, there is a bunch of red garbage. Drivers are flagged as errors that are, in fact, present and valid. This is using a desktop shortcut for the Startup Manager. The errors are also in the Win 7 x86 Debug logs.

W7 x86 with v2.0.0.989(beta2):

UPDATED today at 10

1.Running Start Up Manager for the first time produced a populated scan list.

I enabled the task 'Adobe Speedlauncher' that was marked disabled in the Start Up scan list, closed the Start Up Manager and closed jv16-beta2.

2.Running Start Up Manager for a second/third/fourth...time produced an empty scan list, even with a reboot and jv16-beta2 stopped and restarted between the tests. However reinstalling Adobe Reader v9.4.1 brought back the populated scan list in the Start Up manager.

Comparing jv16PT-2010-b986 with jv16PT-2011-beta2 shows quite a difference in the content of the Start Up Managers scan list .

Both Debug Log's, with at the end many red lines and red 'garbage', for the populated scan list and the empty scan list are attached.

Quick test of uninstaller.

Try to uninstall "Configo" (program for Philiphs universal remote). Waiting for result 12 min and result list all my installed program (1994 results). Still mising installed programs, example, i have instaled 2 games Black and white and Black and white 2 and only 2 is listed. A lot of mising programs. When i have time i will test all my instaled programs. Waiting more then 10 min for result is a little to much :).

Software Uninstaller

- In the installed software window select an installed program

- Click "Uninstall"

- Two different message windows appear and keep running a progress bar:

1) "Finding data relating to this software. This might take up to a few minutes..."

2) "Searching for data relating to this software. This might take..."

The first message can be found in the English.lng file under - 28ir80

The second message comes from the English.lng file - 2J2r68

I guess that one message will do :

So the other one should be dropped.

Notice: one of the message boxes can cover the other, so this one keeps running out of sight .

Small bug in Backup Tool - column width partially not remembered:

Go to 'Main window' -> click 'Backups' -> click 'Registry Backups' -> adjust the column width -> close Backup Tool -> close + restart jv16-beta2.

Go to 'Main window' -> click 'Backups' -> Play around a bit with clicking 'Registry backups', 'File Backups' and 'Other Backups' and see that the

column width do change, they are not consistent.
