Issues Fixed (since the original RC1 release)
Issues found by beta testers (new numbers)
1. The new longer text message shown by Registry Compactor is unreadable because the text is cut by the popup box.
2. Clicking Fix or Delete in the Registry Cleaner can sometimes cause nothing to happen at all.
3. Using the Fix feature of PowerTools' Registry Cleaner can sometimes cause an Access Violation. This is a very rare issue and only happens when fixing a very specific type of registry error.
4. The Help > Check for Updates feature doesn't always work properly, it sometimes doesn't check for the latest version if used manually.
5. Aborting the Startup Manager's list population can cause the program to crash "Cannot change Visible in OnShow or OnHide" error message.
6. Comparison of two registry snapshots shows a message "7 = Comparing the current state of the registry to the previously created snapshot is now completed!"
7. The Quick Tutorial doesn't show the ShowMessage field of custom translations.
8. The expected file size feature of File Recovery Tool's deep scan doesn't scale to longer texts.
9. The Registry Finder will list registry keys that match the given search word(s) even with "Analyze key names" option disabled.
10. Software Uninstaller's "Using this feature to uninstall software" confirmation doesn't show the name of the software being uninstalled, as it should.
11. In Software Uninstaller some entries with a closing parenthesis or bracket are not showing unless something follows the parenthesis or bracket.
12. Under 64 bit Windows the Registry Cleaner can show false positive items relating to C:\Program Files\.
13. The Unit Testing tool reports numerous FPO errors. These are false detections, there was a bug in the Unit Testing tool itself.
14. The Anti-Malware shows a blank screen if no files matching the search criteria were found (and thus there was nothing to scan).
15. ActiveX/DDE/COM/DCOM/OLE scanner shows hundreds or thousands of false positives if run in aggressive mode under 64 bit Windows.
16. Registry Finder: AV after removing a group from the list, then attempting to remove a second group from the list. __ 950 x86 w7 (.)
17. Clean and fix my computer, Settings - the sentence describing the most aggressive setting is located next to the 3rd slider position - it should be at the bottom.
18. Registry Monitor's Create Snapshot window shows some clipped graphics.
19. System Tools ---> Service Manager at open jv16-b954 crashes with message "System can not find the specified path"
20. Strangest bug of the month award candidate: Run Registry Information tool and let it complete, use Alt + Tab keys to bring up the Windows desktop, next use Alt + Tab keys again to bring the Registry Info tool back up => program crashes to "Cannot call Start on a running or suspended thread."
21. If the Registry Cleaner results no errors, the Scan Report window can freeze.
22. The File Recovery's Files to find field is empty (it should be "*.*")
23. File Find and Replace tool will freeze if analyzing a lot of data, and doesn't show any kind of progress panel.
24. All tools that perform an action, such as populate a list, fail to do so if opened for a second time. Applies for example to the Startup Manager and Service Manager.
Issues found in in-house testing
1. The Main Window doesn't close when Startup Manager is opened, the Main Window is closed only after Startup Manager has fully populated its list.
2. The program doesn't always automatically show information about a new version update, using Help > Check for updates works.
3. The progress bar of the Quick Tutorial can sometimes show up so wide it partially hides the Back button.
4. The Filter Panel of the Startup Manager is too high.
5. The Main Window can sometimes show up too small in height, which causes the health gauges to be partially hidden by the message panel.
6. The Check for Updates window's text area can sometimes show a few pixels too wide causing the text be partially cut.
7. The Check for Updates window can show up in incorrect size.
8. File Find and Replace tool's second progress panel isn't positioned at the center of the tool window.
9. File Find and Replace tool's first progress panel doesn't scale well to longer texts.
10. if a tool finishes without finding anything, a so called "empty string" should be displayed. For example, the Registry Cleaner's result list should display "(No registry errors found)" and Clean and fix my computer should display "(No items found)"
Improvements done
1. Increased the time a hint message is shown from 5 seconds to 20 seconds.
2. If the search feature (Ctrl + F) doesn't find any items matching the user's search words, a message is now shown letting the user to know this.
3. It's now possible to drag and drop directories to the Download Directories box of the Anti-Malware tool.
4. Improved the accuracy of the severity estimation of registry errors.
5. Improved the ActiveX/DDE/COM/DCOM/OLE scanner, it's now faster, more accurate and finds more errors. Please be extra careful when using it.
6. Improved the support for systems using larger DPI value (larger fonts).
7. Added support for displaying date information in "YYYY-MM-DD" and "YYYY-MM-DD HH" date formats.
8. Increased the size of the Quick Tutorial window to better fit in the texts of other translations.
9. Made the ActiveX/DDE/COM/DCOM/OLE scanner less aggressive with the safest and default Registry Cleaner engine settings.
10. Improved the accuracy of the Registry Cleaner Engine under 64 bit Windows.
11. Initial Setup's and Registry Compactors popup messages are now displayed centered in reference of the tool window, not at the center of the screen.
12. Registry Cleaner's mode selection made available only in the program is run in Debug Mode.
13. Made additions to the English.lng to add support (in the future) for checking for translated version of the Handbook and downloading of a translated version to the user's computer.
14. Directories consisting only of a drive letter, such as "C:" are now accepted as valid paths by all the main tools, such as the Search In field of the File Finder.
