I'm now confident that I got the issue fixed. I just sent Roberta a new private build, after she confirms the issue is fixed I'll release the new build here as well.

As the bug only occurs under very specific and rare circumstances I don't wish to hurry this release. Instead, I'd like to attempt to fix the issue of the Registry Cleaner not fixing errors next. I do not see this to take more than a week, so the next, and hopefully last, version of PowerTools 2009 should be out in next week.

i already reported the exact errorcode last week in this thread.

The exact Errocode ist "SafetyNet error RC1a".

I have to click 4 times to ok and the scan will resume.

I use Version 1.0.9.598

This only happens if i select ActiveX/COM/DCOM/OLE/DDE-Scan

After i click the repair button follow is reported:

Interrupted execution

When more than one jv16PT.exe process runs at the same time, the first one started abruptly terminates when when one started after it ends normally. This happens every time.

For example, I run the Registry Cleaner started from the main PowerTools window. While it scans, I start an automated task to clear the java cache. The automated task ends normally and the main PowerTools process and Registry Cleaner scan ends abruptly without finishing.

FYI:

I did a registry scan only with the ActiveX/COM/DCOM/OLE/DDE-Scan module selected.

It finished without any problem and listed 78 errors.

I too did a registry scan (WIN-XP-prof SP3) only with the ActiveX/COM/DCOM/OLE/DDE-Scan module selected for both v953_beta and v958.

I ran with ONE notch aggressive!

The end result for v593 and v598 is excactly the same, 724 errors (330 key's and 394 entries)

I get twice the Errorcode "SafetyNet error RC1a", both in v593 and v598.

I have to click twice to OK and the scan resumes.

After I clicked the fix button, with v598, the following errors were displayed:

V 1.9.0.598 on Vista BE (pre-SP1)

A File Cleaner (Temp dirs) preference and an automation tool preference each produced its expected result.

Registry Cleaner with the most aggressive settings:

both 590 and 598 showed 80+ lines in the results list.

590 had about 60 ARPCache lines in the "Obsolete Add / Remove menu entry" category.

598 put about half the ARPCache lines in the "Obsolete Add / Remove menu entry" category, and the rest in the"MRU and other history data" category.

All lines appeared safe to remove, and were removed using 598.

Registry Cleaner with the most aggressive settings:

590 showed almost 700 lines

598 showed 230 lines.

598 had some GUI bugs involving this key, which also may be a false positive:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ATI\ACE\Packages

598 shows some caption area file references in RED, when the files actually do exist.

"Open in RegEdit" works with 598 (it didn't with 590).

Nothing was removed using either the 590 or 598 RC results lists.

thanks for the new Build. The Safetynet error has gone now.

Is is normal that not all ActiveX/COM ... errors can be fix?

i i select agressivmode and click on fix errors, 1060 errors remain each time.

I made 6 Registry Cleaning test runs on Win-XP-SP3, all from the same registry restore point + win-boot, all runs MOST aggresive, all registry cleaning runs with

ALL Scan Options checked:

1.v580, without Ignore List; 1360 errors

2.v590, without Ignore List; 1775 errors

3.v590, WITH Ignore List (/folder/ /drive/); 1772 errors

4.v593, without Ignore List; 2 SafetyNet errors; 1752 errors

5.v598, without Ignore List; 2 SafetyNet errors; 1743 errors

6.v599, without Igore List; 1719 errors; (Starting v599 for the FIRST time caused 2 win-errors, concerning resource shortage, caused me to boot!)

I mailed you the zipped file containing the 6 saved Registry Cleaning Lists!

Ignore List Editor:

When you "Un-ignore" items, the list in its window is incorrectly updated. The file is correctly updated.

The program does not reset the list before it reloads the file.

This bug was present, but not noticed, in 598.

Registry Cleaner (for example): when Tools-->Search finds nothing, it should say so ...
