We have several PCs where the Critical bug with Build 590 occurs, & we have set up one of them as a testbed PC for Build 593.....

The same Critical bug Stills occurs in Build 593 (except that B593 finds 484 Errors, while B590 finds 506).....

Can I eMail You a listing of the errors?

Could you please tell me the exact version number from the About window of your PowerTools? Also, what does the error messages in fact say? Please give me the error code to work with.

The exact Errocode ist "SafetyNet error RC1a".

I have to click 5 times to ok and the scan will resume.

I use Version 1.0.9.593

This only happens if i select ActiveX/COM/DCOM/OLE/DDE-Scan

Apparently the Opera installer puts a few HKCU Netscape keys/entries/values in the registry referencing java items. Perhaps Sun did it, not Opera. Anyway ...

Software Uninstaller Custom Uninstall for the Netscape line lists those keys/entries/values. It also lists over 3000 files in C:\Program Files\Opera. After deleting the keys/entries/values with Custom Uninstall, the main list automatically refreshes and Netscape is still on it.

Now Custom Uninstall for the new Netscape line shows a few HKLM Netscape keys/entries/values referencing Opera items. It also lists the 3000+ Opera files. After deleting the keys/entries/values with Custom Uninstall, the main list automatically refreshes and Netscape is finally not on it.

Deleting those keys/entries/values does not seem to have affected my use of Opera. But perhaps Custom Uninstall should not list all those Opera files ...

The outcome is that so far I have not received a single report that shows the bug in action. Which only goes to show my point that this is a very rare issue.

Your reports did show some other interesting data, though.

The data we have supplied for each of Builds 580, 590, & 593 show False positives for both 590 & 593 (generated by Registry Cleaner in Normal mode runs)...,

..that when fixed have caused havoc in many of our PCs.

And they show inconsistencies between sequential runs of 593.

When will we get a new build fixing the still pending issues?

You are correct. However, in order to reproduce the problem the user would need to run the Registry Cleaner in non-default settings. I have now fixed two bugs relating to this issue:

1. Clicking the "Normal" under Registry Cleaner's "Advanced Engine Settings" shouldn't select "Left-Over software scan". the LOSS should only be run with an aggressive scan because it can result false positives. And the false positives you reported are indeed caused by this scan module.

2. I improved the safety of the Left-Over Software Scan module.

And this bug is most likely not the same causing the problem with shortcuts.

Hi Jv16,

Sorry but You are Wrong, & it seems confused.

I am NOT running the "Left-Over software scan", as I am running the Registry Cleaner with Default Settings.

So the problems Are occurring in default mode.

And if the errors are fixed then problems with shortcuts occur (amongst Many other CRITICAL Errors), & the affected PCs become Unusable.

Please read carefully through the 500 FALSE positive Errors detected by both 590 & 593, listing of which I have sent to You.....

But Jouni I guess you misunderstood what I meant to explain.

I did NOT check "Enable custom selection of scans" under the "Advanced engine settings", NOR did I click the "Normal" button above the Start button. I just and only made the selections under the "Engine settings", first setting the slider in it's default position (second highest) and then setting it in the next position (third highest) and I compared each time the situation of the grayed out "Left-over software data scan" under the "Advanced engine settings", checked or not checked, WITHOUT doing anything else.

By the way, Roberta assures she just and only used the default settings, i.e. slider in it's default position under the "Engine settings" WITHOUT doing anything else, hence NO changes under the "Advanced engine settings".

So...?
