I'm not sure you completely understand what I mean.
First of all I really like the 2009 version, and what you appear to be doing in 2010 ... in concept. I tried out the trial version first to test it out before I bought it. The trial has now expired so I do not currently own any version. I am a potential customer at the moment.
In real life ... it has led to about 50-60 hours of work trying to fix issues which were likely caused by it's use (most of the issues turned out to be connected to registry issues in the/*, /drive or /directory sections of the registry). I didn't mind this too much as I learned a lot and I was in a "testing mode" anyway with other products as well (a long list).
These issues occurred in the use of the registry cleaning module and the uninstall module (both sent to you and in both cases I was told it was not a bug). One of these 2 has now been confirmed as a bug (in the registry cleaner).
I also had other issues which tracked to the /drive and /directory and /* sections of the registry but I could not relate them directly to JV16 ... it just seems likely that they somehow were since these were the areas where the other issues occurred. The ones I caught right away I could track to the cause and repeat it. This was complicated because when I used the uninstall module, it removed entries without creating a record of what it removed (part of what I reported) and this had already happened with some uninstalls before I noticed it.
I only became aware of some of these issues weeks after they occurred. by that time I had installed, tested and uninstalled many other programs. I had backups but without knowing what specifically I was looking for in the backups, they didn't help at the time. I also didn't want to restore backups which were old and may overwrite some corrected entries.
This has led to "less than full trust" in the day to day use of the product. I am happy to use the product in conjunction with other products so I can test the results and satisfy myself that the entries involved are safe to remove but I am not comfortable with day to day use as I'm not yet sure I won't be causing other issues that I don't have the time to fix (one round of "fixing" was enough).
To give you an example ... I use Revo Uninstaller to remove all my programs. I trust that it doesn't create problems. I was using JV16 uninstaller beside it for testing purposes and while I liked it ... it created some issues that I reported. These issues were duplicateable ... at least at that time. JV16 was more comprehensive in its abilities however it also has more risk. If this risk was removed (or lessened to a more reasonable level) ... it would become a day to day program for me ... and I would gladly lay down my money to purchase it ... with or without the option to upgrade to 2010.
As it stands now .... build 590 is (by my assessment) buggy. build 580 and earlier also has issues. build 593 is pre-beta. This means that I cannot buy a 2009 version that I can fully trust to do what I want it to do (use it without major supervision and research)
2010 is also pre-beta and not generally available.
What is left???
