I'm afraid I don't understand what you are trying to say. The fact the the keyboard's delete button didn't work caused you some kind of problems with PowerTools...?

Yes indeed. This is why:

- the keyboard del button did not work

- I always use the agressive mode as in the other modes the VBE items (microsoft word excel) are not visible. And these items grow and grow ...

- I now had to use the interface del button

- I *only* selected the VBE items, nothing more nothing less. Because it is always: check ... recheck .. double check. I hope developers do that too :

- However: *everything* was removed, including the items I did not want to remove (activex, dde, ole). I know that it is dangerous to delete these items.

I am not a newbie

- trouble, trouble as important items were removed.

- I had to use Norton ghost to restore my fresh (!) backup

- I now use version 540: the del button works, selecting an item too, it can be deleted, however the items remain on the screen (refresh bug )

Well, it's called "aggressive mode" and you are warned against using it. And before you can ask: it's included in the program because some users want to play with fire and use it. I don't use and I don't recommned anyone else to use it either.

If you know that users are playing with fire; that computers may crash ... why ever implemented this feature?

Not very logical to my humble opinion

The focus is: removing items that are obsolete, overdone, not necessary and so on.

Besides that, results show that to day it is not of that importance anymore to remove filthy items in the registry, in order to win pc speed ...

To be clear, by "selecting" you are referring to placing a tick to the checkbox related to the items in question, right? By default everything is selected after the Registry Cleaner have finished. So, you did first uncheck everything, and then checked only the VBE items?

Yess, 200 %. I only had the (main)VBE item checked. One visible check in a box, no more no less.... and I therefore clicked the delete button without any hesitation. (Conclusion, a 'refresh' problem/bug)

And you checked that everything was OK under the group you had selected?

I am always being asked if I want to make a backup of items being to be deleted.

( I have this setting especially turned on ... to be sure ... what I am doing)

Well, dear developer, I'm asking you with insistence not to remove that "Delete" button.

Sometimes I have noticed the "Fix" button does things I don't want to. Sometimes it replaces a wrong path with another path it thinks to be the matching right one obviously found in the file cache, but unfortunately it's choice is not always the right choice. The Registry Cleaner "thinks" it's a right fix but in fact it isn't. It points to something with a similar name but belonging to something else. In such a case I prefer to remove the wrong entry, instead of letting "fix" it.

In fact I use almost always the "Delete" button instead of the "Fix" button which is not always 100% reliable.

Can someone else reproduce the problem?

I did a test.

1. With the structured list after selecting entries and pressing the keyboard DEL-button nothing happens at all.

2. With the raw list after selecting some entries and pressing the keyb DEL-button, the backup message pops up. After answering Yes and then clicking OK the selected entries keep selected and nothing happens furthermore. When clicking the "Delete" button in the results window, ONLY the SELECTED entries are removed and the backup is made as it should.

Exactly! I don't want to "fix" the garbage, resurrecting it from the dead, I want to drive a stake through its heart. This is after I've probably worked very hard to clean the junk program from my drive and now want to rid the remnants from my registry.

I do agree very much!!I never used the fix button because, as said before, I noticed also that the cleaner want to replace things with a wrong 'path', wrong things !!!!

In other words: the fix button meshes up your pc.

If the fix button becomes the leading tool of the cleaner .. well dead end I think.

For left-over and obsolete data the "fix" done by the Fix button is deletion of the data, the Fix only fixes registry errors.

When pressing my del keyboard button I did not get any message windows... (as mentioned under 1)

That's why I had to use the button in the screen ..

At the moment I am using version 540 ...

This bug is now fixed, thank you for reporting! The next version with this fix included will be released later in this month.

What PT considers a fix (of course we have no way of knowing, not that we should) may not be what I consider a fix or error. I may have customized and set something intentionally, which I don't want undone. For instance, I have to be careful when using Windows System File Checker because I have used ResourceHacker to modify some system files.

Well, that's a reason more to maintain the "Delete" button in the results window of Registry Cleaner :
