While I am an avowed fan of getting more bang for my buck, I am more interested in the products that I buy working as advertised and expected. The prospect of additional features in PT 2009 is exciting. I would argue, however, that the product already has more capabilities than 95% of its users are aware of and/or use regularly. And Macecraft must be careful not to let PT fall victim to 'feature bloat' that could compromise one of its primary assets - its small size and high speed.
I understand the need to stay ahead of the competition. Bells and whistles, in the form of added features, help make that happen. I want to suggest, though, that Macecraft focus NOT on adding new features to PT 2009, but on cleaning up the existing code. Make every existing feature work as it should. I know that 100% Bug Free is not possible, but something closer to 100% than we are today is. Tweak the interface, add a relatively simple new utility, remove a little used current feature, but please focus on improving the base product. You already have the most comprehensive utility suite of its kind - now make that package as stable, functional, and bug-free as possible. Concentrate on quality, not quantity.
I submitted this message because I respect the work that Jouni and Macecraft have done and want to see them thrive in a very competitive marketplace. Thanks for letting me comment. Keep up the great work!
