Finally I have found the reason why "Starting Programs" of "Registry Manager" seems to work not properly ...
Well ... it's kinda simple, even very simple
It is not even a bug :
Look at "Program Settings" -> "Network Features" -> "Use the central server to improve the following features".
There is an option "Registry Manager > Starting Programs" ...
When that option is enabled (checked) JV16PT2005 downloads information about every starting program of your machine and obviously that takes a lot of time.
So, you just has to disable (uncheck) that option and it is done : :
You will see that all the troubles with the Starting Programs are gone now :
Just give it a try and tell me and JV16 the results ...
I wish you guys a very good night from Belgium here.

Actually, it still is a bug. Here's why:
Followed the procedure you outlined, namely unchecking the Registry Manager box in Network Features. But in order to get this to work, I then had to flush the cache. Now, all fine except that the Starting Programs page only displays some entries from the Registry.
I then went back to Network Features, checked the Registry Manager box, did not flush the cache, and voila, a full list of entries now appears on the Starting Programs page.
But, if I again flush the cache, we're back to square one. Nothing shows up at all in Starting Programs page.
A minor aside: In the old Power Tools 1.41, the Starting Programs page would also display where the starting program entry resides: (1) in the Local Machine part of the registry, (2) the Current User part of the registry, or (3) the Start Menu Startup folder. That is not the case in version 2005.
