Startup Programs Under Registry Manager

I have jv16 2005 build 1.51.299 installed on 2 systems; one desktop and one laptop. When I open the Registry Manager, on both systems, i have problems with the Startup programs tab. Sometimes, nothing at all shows. When I navigate across the other tabs, it works fine. When I go back to the Startup tab, the information I saw in the previous tab, shows up in the Startup tab. I've uninstalled the program and reinstalled and I get the same result.

My desktop is a Windows XP SP2 system and the laptop is a Windows 2000 Pro SP5(?) system. Same problem.

Any ideas?

I got the exact situation on my two desktops both are running with most Windows XP Pro Sp-2 plus the most recent updates, hope some one could give a resolution soon.

Just to be sure, could you verify from the Help > About window the version number of the program you are running?

I'm only asking you to do this because I thought I already fixed this bug before the public release, but if you are in fact running the latest version then I guess the bug is still there.

Yes. It is in fact 1.5.1.299.

It happens less on my Win 2K system, but nearly everytime on my Win XP system (9 out of 10 times). So far, it's the only issue I've found with the new release, which is in total quite impressive.

I am also running the most undated version 1.5.1.299, the said situation comes on and off, but most of the time is as what I had mentioned.

I am running version 1.5.1.300 and I still have same problem. Win Xp sp2 +hotfixes. Cmon JV16 fix it already. Paid customer. Thanks in advance.

I have also the same problem with version 1.5.1.300.

Registered customer.

That problem is really a bug that has to be fixed in the next update, JV16.

Sorry about this, the problem will be fixed in tomorrow or in next week.

I have been delaying the release of the fixed version for hoping to get more updated translations included, and because the problem isn't of very serious nature.

We today received what we have been waiting for: the French translation.

Therefore the new and updated version is now released (read more from: http://www.macecraft.com/news/92/) and I hope the problem is now solved.

Just to make sure, could someone verify whether this bug has been fixed? The bug never occured in any of my test computers, so I can't be 100% the problem is in fact fixed.

And remember to check the version number from the Help > About window before reporting, thanks.

JV, I'm afraid that the bug still exists.

No items appeared in the Start Programs tab, but when I enter any of the other tabs, the same "other tab" programs appear in the starting tab.

And I am using 1.5.1.303

The bug still exists also at my computer using new version 1.5.1.303.

I have sent a bug report tot JV16.

It's a pitty JV16 cannot manage to eliminate that awful bug :

The first time you must wait half a minute and then the entries appear.

The following tries, they appear at once.

The question remains ... why takes jv16 PT 2005 that long to load the entries of the Starting Programs in Registry Manager?

You really has to be very patient :

The entries of the others sections are loaded much faster ... why?

Perhaps jv16 can give us the answer?

And hopefully he can correct that problem in the next update? :

I noticed this also with jv16 PowerTools 2005 (v. 1.5.1.303) after updating the cache and then right away trying to open the Registry Manager. I restarted my computer and now "Starting programs" loads up REAL fast!! I would suggest that a prompt to reboot your computer after opening the program and first updating the cache so no one complains anymore. I would say this issue is fixed in my opinion. I think restarting your computer works for things like this.

I also saw this failure to load startup programs with v 1.5.1.299 & .300, but when I installed .303, the startup programs now load immediately and correctly, and I did not have to reboot my w2k_sp4.

Seems like the problem is only half fixed, I'm afraid.

I'll post a private beta version on the beta section on Monday (or today) to see whether I was now able to fully fix the problem.

I just installed the 3.04 beta. I flushed the cache. Rebooted the computer. The starting programs tab still comes up empty when Registry Manager is started and if you come back to that tab after clicking on one of the other tabs, what is displayed are the entries from the other tab.

I have installed the beta testing version now and at first sight everything seems to be all right with the Registry Manager now especially the section Starting Programs. Anyway the entries appear fast enough.
