Registry Cleaner reports User Shell Folder entries in the registry as invalid if folders of the current user are moved.

Registry Cleaner reads HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT and HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18 (=Local System) keys. Under those are "User Shell Folders" values that uses %USERPROFILE% environment variable. But now RC expands %USERPFOFILE% of the current user and uses that for default user which obviously can't be right.

For example the value of "HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\My Pictures" is "%USERPROFILE%\Pictures" which RC expands to "C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\Pictures". I have moved all my own user data folders to D drive so there is no "C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\Pictures", but yet "C:\Users\Default\Pictures" does exist.

I found the same thing.

I've moved most of my User Folders to my E: drive so I wouldn't lose files when I restore my system from a TrueImage image.

RC3 RegCleaner finds multiple errors for those locations in the reg even though the folders do, in fact, exist, just not in C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\ . This may be something to look at fixing in a future update.

In the meantime, we should just set those errors to be ignored.

The ability to move ones USER folders, while Vista keeps track of where they are, is a really neat feature!

Registry Cleaner, another strange result ... (Vista)

I started RC, Quick select: normal, raw list, and got a confusing, illogical result in the Registry Cleaner's results, message box, and Scan Report windows. Look at the thumbnail.

The results window came up quickly with the status indicator at nearly 100%. The Scan Report updated 4 different times. Only the first 4 results list lines showed until, perhaps, after the 2nd Scan Report update when the other 4 lines appeared in the results window. The message box showed two sets of "scan finished" messages.

It's as if RC was doing two simultaneous scans. It was actually -- look at the key/entry counts in the strange and normal scan reports ...

I may have accidentally clicked the tool window Start button twice, but could not reproduce the situation. When I tried, I got the "tool is already running" message.

Could you try which of the Registry Cleaner's scan modules list these items?

Registry Cleaner reports User Shell Folder entries in the registry as invalid if folders of the current user are moved.

Registry Cleaner reads HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT and HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18 (=Local System) keys. Under those are "User Shell Folders" values that uses %USERPROFILE% environment variable. But now RC expands %USERPFOFILE% of the current user and uses that for default user which obviously can't be right.

This problem is now fixed (in the Final version and later), thank you for reporting.
