No Items in History Manager

I may well be missing something but I have no items listed anywhere within History Manager. :?

So how do I manage history items?

I'm using the latest JV16 build and IE 6.

In other words, all the lists in the History Manager are empty?

Yes.

And the start button is always greyed out. (which I suppose it would be!)

Well.... I have stuff listed. And all is from Firefox. But when i want to remove them, i get the message they are all removed. But when i go back to the 'Unknown' list.. they are all there again. It doesn't matter if i restart PowerTools at all.

If the 'History Manger' is empty, then most likelye there are no History Items to manage.

Sorry.. but i can't help ya any further im afraid.

I think you have to wait for JV16, but he is moving atm, and wil be back around next monday / thuesday.

An other thing what i can sugest is this.

Clear the browsers cache, then download the latest version of PowerTools. Uninstall the current version, and make sure that the whole folder where PowerTools whas installed at is gone, if not, remove it yourself.

Then reinstall PowerTools and check what happens.

Hope this will help you atleast a litle bit .

Thanks. I was unaware that I was unlikely to get support from JV16 for a while. I'd have kept quiet had I known :)

I will give what you suggest a try, it just seems strange that my browser shows history but is not picked up by PowerTools.

Tried that, didn't work. Oh well...

Owkey... now i tryed it my self... (I don't use IE but only FireFox and Opera).

And for some reason it doesn't shows the IE list. (Sorry that i didn't tryed that before).

It does however shows the Firefox entries... But, i think this whas posted in an other thread also, it doesn't remove anything.

So there probebly is a buggy around that area :).

I'm afraid I'm not sure where the problem is. The product's IE support was made with IE6 so there shouldn't be any compatibility problem.

Are you running the product with administrator's rights, if you have Windows 2000 or XP, that is?

I'm using XP Home and have administrator rights. As no one else seems to have complained of this problem maybe the fault is at my end.

I don't recall having this problem with the pre 2005 version of PowerTools.

I'm rather sure you didn't have the problem prior to the PT 2005 since PT 1.4.1 didn't contain any features for handling History Data.

I will try to find some bug from the code that could cause this.

I am a new, licensed, JV16 user and wanted to report that I'm having the same problem with the History Manager as reported here by other IE6 users here - no history items are listed.

Although I have verified that a history list exists in IE6, the History manager 'Unknown' tab list remains blank and the start button is grayed-out. I'm using JV16 2005 ver. 1.5.1.307, and IE ver 6.0.2800.1106.

As far as I can tell all the other JV16 tools are working correctly. Yet, I'd really like to have the History Manager working.... :?

I have read many of the historical topics about this issue in this forum, but I can't recall whether it has been confirmed as a bug? Has that happened?

Thanks for the reply. Unless I missed it somewhere I never saw an acknowledgement from JV saying he was aware of this problem with IE browsers and that it would be fixed. Consequently, I sent JV a support problem email (since I paid for support) asking this very question.

Also, I'm now finding that I'm having another problem that other having noted in this forum that seems to IE browser related - deleted cookies reappearing. I wonder if these two issues are related?

This is the reply I recieved on Aug 30, 2005 to my support email on this issueWe have also received some reports of it not working but we haven't yet been able to find any solution to what could be causing this, I'm afraid. I asked if there was anything (testing-wise) that I might be able to do to help find the cause, but did not yet get a reply...
