Re: jv16 PowerTools 2017 Release Candidate 2

I am trying the registry cleaner feature in RC2. That feature works well in RC1 and JVPowertools X. However, in RC 2, the procedure hangs at the end of the analyzing phase, after all procedures are done. I let it go maybe 5 minutes. Will also send zip of backup folder as instructed. This applies to...

File Cleaner with default settings Anomalies: 1. The directory "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM\Cache\" contains only a single hidden file. 2. Attempts to explore any file in the "C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\..." directories gets an "Access is ...

Re: jv16 PowerTools 2017 Release Candidate 2

In Windows AntiSpy, I selected "Disable "Use the web service to find the correct program" when trying to open unknown filetypes. I clicked Apply, restarted Windows, and tried to open a bogus filetype. Sure enough, the offer to use the web service was no longer a choice. In a new start...

Re: jv16 PowerTools 2017 Release Candidate 2

In Windows AntiSpy, these two options do not remove the items:

Remove "Personalize" from the Desktop's right click menu.
Remove "Display settings" from the Desktop's right click menu.

I clicked Apply, then restarted. The items remained.

Action History is very incomplete ...

I ran "Clean and SpeedUp My Computer" yesterday. I performed six different removal actions with it which created six separate backups. However, "Action History" only shows one of the six actions. I also removed registry items with "Registry Finder" twice, creating a bac...

Re: Find more information online option?

I wonder where you have found that file. I can't find it in any subdirectory of the jv16 PowerTools X installation directory on my PC. I couldn't find it either. So I started the Startup Manager and did the "Find more information online ..." option on one of the lines. This caused "t...

Re: Portable version

Actually, only using facilities already designed into Power Tools, I made it portable some years ago. It was just an exercise, since I have no particular need for a portable version. Because of this post, today I made PT X 1494 "portable." By portable, I mean it is installed to a flash dri...

Re: PT X 1492: Registry Find & Replace Backups issue

Fixed in PT X (1494). The backup now correctly restores the changed items. An access violation occurred when "Back" was clicked after the successful Replace operation. it did not recur when everything was redone in debug mode. The Crash Report is present in the debug log. --- jv16PT_debug...

Re: PT X 1492: Some disabled items show invalid paths

Startup Manager On Windows 7 (x86): The six disabled items in the list below that point to Program Files (x86) show invalid paths. Program Files (x86) exists, but contains none of the six items. Doing Explore on any one of the six items brings up an Explorer window for Program Files (x86). Items in...
