I originally installed 2005 evaluation last month. A week later I ran across jv16 v1.3 on the Internet and was curious so I downloaded and installed it in another folder. Both versions worked but v1.3 wrote over the 2005 uninstall entry in Windows Add/Remove Programs. After reviewing v1.3 I decided to remove it, but was unsure if an uninstall would cause 2005 to expire early, so I left it in place.
I was hoping 2006 would be released before the expiration of my 2005 eval installation but last week it expired. I uninstalled v1.3 and then used the uninstall shortcut on the Windows Start Menu for 2005. Although the uninstall seemed a little erratic, it appears to have removed 2005 correctly. (I'm mentioning this in case it's going to create any problems with the next installation.)
So what do you suggest I do now, wait for 2006 (it must be real close) or purchase a license for 2005 and reinstall? Am I correct that one advantage of waiting for 2006 is I will have a full 30 days to request a refund if I'm not satisfied with it? I don't need that kind of guarantee with 2005. I've already used it for 30 days.
Also, since I'm purchasing a commercial license, I'd prefer to purchase one where the invoice/receipt matches the product version. There is audit software running on my machine, and I need to submit a license for the running version with our accounting department.
On another subject, I assume you're aware of jv16 2005's inability to see some of the higher indexed Unicode characters. After running a search for a specific key, jv16 returned the ANSI sub-keys but was not even aware of some sub-keys containing Chinese characters.
