Duplicate File Finder

Took me WAAAYYY too long to figure out why "Start" was grayed out when all I wanted to do was check the whole hard disk for dupes. Turns out you have to go to another tab and "Add" drive C: to the search locations. This choice, and the instructions for making it, should be on the opening tab...rather than sending the user on a hunting trip. (PS - This is only a problem the first time the program is run. Now that I've done it, the choice stays made for subsequent runs.)

Just had to restore everything back from because im not sure they were dups, can anyone tell me how I can be sure. and if I already deleted it without backup can i still find it somewhere. when you type file extentions after the ones it comes with does it look for those or ignore them.

This is a quote from the PT 2005 user manual (downloadable from the Macecraft web site):

"Do notice that not all duplicate files are safe to remove just like that, usually quite the opposite. Therefore the use of the Duplicate Finder is only recommended for finding duplicate files from file collections, such music or video collections."

So use extreme care -- don't remove any duplicate unless you know a particular one is not used by any program! :
