Some minor problems in RC1 (v1.5.2.322)
Here are some test results. Only the adventurous should read below the line ...
Conclusions:
1. Many minor bugs in beta4, and tested here in RC1, are now fixed.
2. A minor bug stiill exists in File Finder (Search by date memory not OK).
3. Two bugs exist in Registry Compact; they may be minor bugs.
4. Registry Cleaner and Registry Finder still do not honor the unchecked Interface tab option "Automatically close the tool windows after the results are shown."
5. There are several problems in Registry Finder. At least one is serious (It removes a value that was not on the list).

See if unchecked setting is honored by RC and RF (and ...) ...
(3) Mode tab settings not honored in RC Preferences
See if fixed ... settings are now honored
(4) Backup from Reg Finder & Reg Cleaner not working
Try to reconstruct condition (part of it anyway) by restoring backups ... see what RC1 RC & RF do ...
On dt1:
2006-02-14, restored backups, now have 50 plus bogus lines.
Type 1: entry name & value do not belong to the key shown.
Type 2: the key shown is clearly invalid (a bad construction).
Most bogus lines no longer show.
Used RF to find string: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Catcher\dt1\100 000 s of files-1.jpg -- All key and analyze options checked.
Result: RF found 2 lines (1 in HKUS + 1 in HKCU). Ran RC; list showed 4 lines with this string. (
Reran RF, showed same two lines, removed them. Reran RF. One of the lines is still there, removed it. Reran RF. The line is still there. (

Checked backups.

(6) Software, Startup, Registry Managers
Invoke and see what looks different (especially in Software Manager) ...2005 vs RC1
Software manager: 2005 shows 346 lines, RC1 shows 70 lines.
Startup manager (& 2005 equivalent): both show 20 lines.
Registry manager: item counts identical in 2005 and RC1
(7) Preference saving
Check "memories" of at least these tools: RC, RF, FF, FC, DFF, DF ...
OK: RC, RF (Search by date not tested),
OK: FC, DFF, DF (ignore words memory not tested; logic not checked, only memory)
( 8 ) Registry Compactor
See if Security hive is included ...
Run twice in a row to see if error messages are still there after first run ...
Security hive is not included.
The software, system, and current user NTUSER.dat hives consistently get the behavior described here: http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=845
Size before and after columns show some compaction; close and relaunch of the tool shows the same "Size before" as the prior run. (
If those hives are not checked and the rest are, the completion message is not issued -- the tool window just sits there; you can close it; you can change the check marks and click "Compact" again (
(9) Disk Wiper
See if "Time remaining (est.)" is fixed or omitted (by design) ...
It is omitted (OK)
(13) Backups done by RF
See if Backup Tool now shows type "Entries removed with Registry Finder" ...
It does.
