jv16 P.T. 2005 loads very slowly

When I first installed jv16 P.T. 2005, it would load very quickly. Now, it seems to take so much longer before I can access the choices I want to run.

The only new program I have recently installed is NOD32 AntiVirus. Could this be a cause for the slower access?

I think it is one very likely cause. AV programs like to look at all files being opened so they can intercept if they see a virus in one. PT has lots of .dat files to open to remember your settings & preferences.

If NOD32 AntiVirus has an ignore list, that might help.

Hy Tullik, i'm doing the same your problem with NOD32. I did not have it with Kaspersky Suite but this AV locked the internet pages opening so i chose Nod32.

I've tried to Exclude the "jv16 PowerTools 2005" folder e subs from the Amon control, then all *.exe, *.pdf e *.reg files in "jv16 PowerTools 2005" folder e subs. The problem still there!

Have you any suggestions to help me in this?

I don't know anything specific about NOD32, but if you can exclude the following for the "jv16 PowerTools 2005" folder, it might help:

*.dat, *.xbin, *.lng, jv16pt.exe, handbook.pdf

There is only one program in Power Tools. Its name is jv16pt.exe.

I hope that is what you need, to do whatever it takes, to do the NOD32 exclude you mentioned. I don't know much at all about NOD32 ...

I just remembered seeing other names the past in Windows prefetch.

They looked something like this: jv16pt.xxxx.exe. "xxxx" appeared to be randomly generated.

Maybe you could use wildcards?

Today I realized that the problem of JV16 slowness could be come from the 128 Mb of RAM requiered by NOD32 AV for its standard installation! My old TravelMate 517TE has only 192Mb of RAM installed! Could you tell me please how many mb of Ram does JV16 PT 2005 require for its standard installation? I can not able to find this infos anywhere!

I couldn't find it anywhere either. So I ran "Process Explorer Nt" To get a clue ...

Looks like it requires a minimum 11 MB after it is loaded, before you ask it to do anything. It jumped to about 14 MB after one run of Registry Cleaner.

Turning off network features and clearing the Cache directory got these working sets (~8 MB (load only) & ~10 MB (Reg Cleaner once)):

For comparison, four in-memory components of AVG Free had a current working set of ~26 MB (~40 MB Peak).
