Status of some beta3 bugs ... and a beta4 BUMP!

Beta3 to beta4 excellent overall result -- but I believe a monster lurks in core registry functions -- see below!

Startup Manager -- Number of selected, highlighted, and total items not displayed. Also, 2006 listed 1 less item than 2005. --- OK now.

File Finder -- Find function is OK, but Preference "Search by date " parameters are not saved (or loaded/reloaded?) correctly. Also, "Search by date" appears to be ticked on by default even with no time period specified. Several posts about File Finder not working probably have this to thank. --- OK now.

Registry Information -- Repeated start/close executions of RI show a total key count which varies by tens of thousands (up or down). OK now; counts are very consistent, almost precise!

Cookie Manager -- 2006 sees fewer cookies than 2005. Counts equal in beta4.

Disk Wiper -- It wiped the contents of a directory OK, but the ending statistics are incorrect. OK now. (Maybe not a bug. I wiped only 180KB in beta3, did 35MB in beta4). Note: the beta4 "Time remaining (est.) was way, way off, but the progress indicator bar was almost perfect. Before release, the est. needs work, or leave it out.

History/MRU Cleaner -- 2005 and 2006 results are significantly different. In beta4, results are still significantly different. The two versions are interpreting MRU data quite differently. See beta4 post http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=831 -- all these carried forward items may be involved.

Never mind about History/MRU Cleaner. I see now that in 2006, it is driven by the definitions in the Settings\HistoryCleaner directory.

Can't see though where 2005 gets its definitions. Hardcoded in jv16pt.exe maybe?

You are correct, this is now fixed.
