First, let me say that the new icons on the opening window are a nice improvement.
I feel that the new intro on the first run of jv16 is a nice addition. I recommend that it send users to the Settings window after the file cache is completed so that new users can set up the desired settings in the beginning.
Second, let me say that I am disappointed that a disk selector is not incorporated in the File Cache section. I find it hard to believe that other multiple disk users like minutes+ (12 minutes on my system) file cache time as compared to 30-45 seconds if just the primary disk is scanned for file caching. The FileCache.dat file is not created until the first file cache is performed. I just don't see the problem why a "Use these Disks for File Caching" insert cannot be part of the new intro at the point where it asks if the user wants to execute a file cache. Then use the selection for setting True/False arguments in FileCache.dat. JMO and feeling...again.
Problems using Registry Cleaner-
The first time I selected Registry Cleaner, the main window opened and the options selection sub window opened. Ran an aggressive scan. When the Scan Report window opened at the end of the scan, the CLOSE button nor the top right X would close it. In fact, the only way to close this window was to completely exit jv16.
The second time I opened Registry Cleaner, the main window did not open. The options sub window opened. However neither Normal nor Aggressive was selected in the options window. After selecting Agressive scan and selecting START, the main window opened. Ran an Aggressive scan. This time the Scan Report window CLOSE button worked okay.
The third time I opened Registry, again the main window did not open. The options sub window opened. However the type of scan had switched back to Normal. The previous Aggressive option was not remembered from the previous scan.
If some other program happens to steal focus during the registry scan, the stats in the upper right area disappear for the rest of scan. As an example, Task Scheduler happened to run TrojanHunter's LiveUpdate during the jv16 scan. As soon as LiveUpdate started minimized in the Task Bar, the jv16 scanning stats disappeared.
An aggressive scan with 2005 finds 5 more items than an equivalent aggressive scan on 2006. And 2005 scan time is less than 2006, but just by a few seconds (8-10) on my XP-SP2 system. Understand, however, that I clean my registry at least once a week so it is normally not in bad shape when a jv16 scan is executed.
Other Things found thus far
The Full Row Select option does not work in Startup Manager.
The Full Row Select option does not work in Registry Manager.
When I close jv16, the window closes. Then 3-5 seconds later I get a very quick flash of what looks like another jv16 window opening and quickly closing. This does not happen in 2005.
That's it thus far.
