Regcleaner entries

When I use Regcleaner in version 1.4.1 I get about 200 entries that can be removed. When I use the Regcleaner in JVPowertools2005, I only get around 20.

Why should this be? Is the new version identifying less entires because it knows that they shoudl not be deleted?

This probebly is becouse of the security that has been buildin PT2k5, some registry-key's can couse problems when removed.

Also, check if you have the 'Deep' scan mode selected. This can improve the results.

There is an other option 'Don't show items that would be automatically re-created', which filters key's that are incorrect/obsolete, but would be re-created after removal or after a reboot.

Check those options out, and mabye it will improve the result. But it is only for your safty that it doesn't remove everything, that could be wrong.

When using the registry cleaner in the latest build (276) of PowerTools 2005, it removes (somehow) the icon cache for Winamp in LimeWire. I would search for a mp3 speech file, when I would notice that the icon for Winamp is a generic windows "unknown" icon. Reinstalling LimeWire would not help. The only way to fix it is by removing Winamp completely (reinstalling on top would not help), then reinstalling it again. Resetting the icon cache via MS PowerTools does not help.

Just letting you know. I have posted this bug on the LimeWire forums, but no one knew of this problem, as many do not use PowerTools registry cleaner.

This is because the products use entirely different registry cleaning engines, the difference isn't generally as dramatic as it is in your computer. At least not in the test systems I have tested myself.

Did you use the "Don't show items that would be automatically re-created" option?

Another small question - why is the option show only green/ show all (including red) items from 1.4 not existing anymore?

It was nice to choose only the green ones. :)

This is because a lot of people are colour blind and couldn't distinguish between the colours.

I'm not joking either I asked JV16 the very same question.
