Question about reoccuring errors

Recently, everytime I use The Power Tools Registry fixer, I get about 100 entries similar to those listed below. This did not used to happen. Is there a common thread to these errors? Do they point to an issue I need to fix? Any help would be appreciated.

I discovered that these entries (102 of them) appear every time after shutting down the computer. They did not used to show up in the list. Maybe there is some sort of problem occuring at shutdown? I have no other symptoms except these new entries.

Bump. Does anyone know what these 102 entries are that keep appearing whenever I run the registry cleaner after the computer has been turned off and restarted?

Yesterday, and today, the cleaner froze when running and I had to end task. These new errors and the freezing may be unrelated, but I am starting to worry that maybe my install of jv16PowerTools is going buggy?

Oh boy. After using jv16 PowerTools for months with no trouble it freezes about 1/2 the time I use it now. This began about the time I started getting these 102 files I've been asking about, every time I run registry cleaner.

Anyone have suggestions as to what might be wrong?

Hello Shepard,

A google-search with the following keywords found in your "occuring keys" links to Microsoft.

- 'Smartscreen' is part of a new Antispam technology used by Microsoft.

- 'GacInstalled' and 'VsaVbRT' are part of .NET Framework by Microsoft.

So I think all this keys are automatically recreated everytime you delete them and you should activate, in Registry Cleaner -> Advaced Options, the option: "Don't show items that would be automatically recreated".

The jv16 PowerTools 2006 will no longer list these items.

Thank you, but it does not seem to work. I checked the suggested box and ran registry cleaner. All 102 items were listed as before. So I looked to see if the box was indeed still checked and it was. I deleted the 102 items, rebooted the computer and ran another scan. All 102 listed again. So these items seem to be unaffected by checking the "don't show items that would be recreated" box.

on edit: In re-reading jv16's post, I wonder if what is being said is that he recognizes these items, they indeed are NOT affected by ticking the "recreated" box, but are harmless and will not be listed in 2006. Or did jv16 agree with the previous poster that they should not be listed after ticking the "recreated" box?

Now instead of the 102 items each time, I have 126. Going from bad to worse. I could just not use the aggressive mode and never see them, but I like aggressive as this does pick up some other things I do want to see and fix.

Also, I still am interested in answers to the two questions in my 1/13 post where I indicated the suggested approach did not do anything.

Well, there is not much traffic here, but I'll post the latest. It may be that my install of jv16PowerTools has just died, but here it is...

I run a scan and get these 126 items and then delete them. I then close registry cleaner, (but not jv16PT). Then open the registry cleaner and run another scan and the 126 "invalid program" entries are still there!

It is as if the cleaner is doing absolutely nothing??? Any ideas?

If 2006 was ready, I would just uninstall and clean out 2005, (although I have heard that uninstalling jv16PowerTools is not easy?). Then install 2006 clean. But that's not an option yet.

What should I do?
