When comparing an Aggressive scan of the registry 2005 vs 2006 Beta1, the following results are reported:

2005

Scan time = 102.7 seconds

Keys Analyzed= 357787

Values Analyzed= 318739

Errors = 7

2006 Beta1

Scan time = 102.1 seconds

Keys Analyzed= 179765

Values Analyzed= 104369

Errors = 15

2006's scanner does not appear to be any faster.

Why does 2006 scan fewer keys and values??

I guess the performance gain depends much on the structure of the registry.

The PT 2006 contains a new registry cleaner engine and it counts the number of keys and values in a different way than the older version. That most likely explains the difference, but I'll take a closer look and see if I can find something to fix.
