jv16 PowerTools 2006 Beta1 released.

Release notes:

* Most features should be working, however some features are still untested. Use extreme caution and common sense with this version.

* The Automatic preference saving option is not implemented yet.

* Installing and running this beta version does NOT mean you are automatically entitled for a free personal license.

* This is a beta level software, it is meant only for testing purposes. Do not treat this version as a final version of the product.

* Do NOT start to translate the product yet, the language interface (English.lng) will still change.

* This beta version does not contain the Handbook or any other documentation.

* Please do not install this version over jv16 PowerTools 2005, always install beta level software to a separate directory (such as c:\program files\jv16 PowerTools 2006 Beta1).

* Some features and improvements will still be implemented.

* This beta version still contains some old graphics, such as some icons of the main window and the About window.

All beta testers who give us valuable feedback will receive a free personal license for the product when the final version of the product is released.

Two notes I didn't remember to mention:

* This is a beta version, and therefore the program can show many types of error messages (such as MemLog errors or Internal Errors) which wouldn't normally show in a final product version.

* It is very important to install the program to an empty directory, do not install it over any old version of PT or any other program.

By the way, there's a fairly good chance the PT 2006 will also contain one very much requested feature... What, that you will see :

Some observations:

During startup creating the file cache it would be nice to have some sort of indication that the process is ongoing.

Registry Cleaner - When entering 'Ignore Words' pressing return begins the scan instead of dropping down to the next line of the list. Very aggravating to say the least. Also the ability to Pause and Abort the scan would be great.

Registry Monitor - The ability to change the comments for a particular snapshot would be nice. When comparing a full registry snapshot there is no indication of activity and it takes an unacceptably long time making it nearly useless. Again the ability to Pause and Abort the snapshot would be nice.

That's all so far.

Until now i didn't found much.

A greate thing that has been fixed is the "Find more information online" in combination with Opera as default browser.

Only in "Registry Manager" that feature isn't working.

With the cookie manager, when i select IE cookies under the 'unknown' tab, then select all the cookies and right-click and select remove, they are removed from the listview. Now when you click on an other tab and then go back to the 'Unknown' tab, they are listed again.

When i close the Cookie Manager, and reopen it, they are removed.

In general, this is a very stable release :).

It looks to work faster/smoother.

After install and running file cache, when I clicked on an icon nothing happened. Could not get focus on the jv16 PowerTools window. After closing the window and restarting the app, it works.

Besides testing the application, I noticed errors in the license agreement, e.g. spelling, etc., should that be documented too?
