First I will say as a long time user I am thankful for jv 16 Power Tools. I have used it periodically, when needed to keep my PC running and have learned alot from using it, things about the registry in particular. That said, I have run into a rather invisible little bug here.
While attempting to remove any remaining traces of an application I was deleting, I experienced more deletions than I had selected. I was deleting my selections plus an additional selection (?). That additional deletion was whatever selection happened to be listed at the top of the screen. I could not delete only one selection because the app would also auto-magically make the checkbox at top of the screen selected, adding that app for deletion too.
I was surprised to see that actually happen, right before my eyes, for about two seconds then the screen changes to " Searching for installed software..." at which time I immediately closed the process, Whew! I tried several times, full screen and minimized, same thing happens; you can see the selection checkbox at the very top get a green check-mark!
The next screen clearly identifies the number of selections to be deleted. Select only one and it warns you that two have been selected. So I selected 'Cancel' to not do any deletions....and the screen changes to "Finding data relating to this software. This might take a few minutes. Please wait..." What? I intended to just exit and instead I'm subjected to minutes of waiting ( a time-out penalty I guess!) for no real reason because I canceled the process, right? Apparently, the search is on for all software files matching the null set, and that search lasts for .... Checking Win10 Task Manager for process activity on jv 16 Power Tools, yes its doing something,...waiting for way too long, over 20 minutes (killing time on YouTube, checking back to see if it ever exits out of that loop). Nope!
Is it really deleting the files for that second app? I didn't do that test, however, I have a clue now how my Adobe DC Reader (probably was at the top of the list, right?) software app mysteriously disappeared a while back. I scratched my head on that one a long time and attributed it to some WIN 10 Update side affect....maybe not!
So that's my take on this particular phenomena. Please be careful if you venture into the Software Uninstaller, there is no backup here and selected files will be gone permanently.
