In the case the current official version of jv16 PowerTools displays an error message and does not run in your computer, you can try this private test build:

(version no longer available for download, as a newer version has already been officially released).

If you do try it, please let me know here if any feedback. If this version also displays an error message, please create a zip file of the Backups folder created by the program (by default it is at C:\Program files (x86)\jv16 PowerTools\Backups\) and send it for me for analysis.

This version is a private test build, offered for you here for testing purposes. Please do not re-upload this version anywhere or re-post it anywhere.

As this is a private test build, it should be installed with the "Automatic updates" feature disabled, otherwise the software may automatically update itself to the official latest version.

Here is the Change Log compared to 4.2.0.1920:

Fix: The software can fail to start after installation and display an error message about not being able to create a directory.

Fix: The software can display an "Stack Overflow" or "Access Violation" message during Initial Setup or Clean and SpeedUp My Computer scan, which makes it impossible to use the software.

Improvement: The Initial Setup will now run up to 80% faster.

Improvement: Improved compatibility with jv16 PowerTools and Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Corel WordPerfect and Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Improvement: The software will now start faster.

An official release will follow later in this month. Thank you!

So far I have no error messages when running Clean & SpeedUp my Computer.

I did not test Initial Setup, because when uninstalling the previous version I kept my actual settings.

For testing purposes I will uninstall the whole software and install from scratch. I'll return later with my findings.

Thank you! Please let us know here how it goes. We are getting many reports by email that for most users, this build fixes all the Access Violation error messages. Some still report Access Violations with the 1927 build as well, though. That's why we'll keep working on it before an official release.

For the record: At the moment we have about 70% of all feedback saying that this build works and fixes all the problems of any previous build. We have 4 users reporting problems with this build (similar "access violation" or "stack overflow" error messages during Initial Setup or CSMC scan).

We are working on fixes and an updated build with all these issues fixed will be released probably next week.

same error at the end of installation here but a lot of errors afterward, provided "continue" is chosen.

after reboot jv16 window comes up, hangs for a few seconds with "non responding" status and then error windows comes up again.

in brief - not good.

if "continue" chosen again the whole interface finally comes up but selecting any tool there brings up the error window again.

all errors were reported.

Uninstalled completeley and reinstalled from scratch.

Initial setup is a pain: it's slow and takes not less than 12 minutes on my fast system. Task Manager is showing "Very High Power Consumption", Processor 10%, Memory usage 147 MB. That's not good and certainley not better than the previous versions.

On the other hand, no more Access Violation message when running Clean & SpeedUp My Computer and no more license problems.

Does it still occur with build 1942? It has many fixes and improvements relating to the Initial Setup.
