An updated version of jv16 PowerTools has been released. The latest version number is 4.2.0.1920.

Here is a complete list of bug fixes and improvements that we did since jv16 PowerTools – Version 4.2.0.1898 was last released on September 28th, 2018:

Bug Fixes

Fix: The Clean and SpeedUp My Computer or Initial Setup may take a very long time to complete, or does not complete at all.

Fix: Uninstalling certain software with the Software Uninstaller can make jv16 PowerTools to display "not responding" text in its window caption (this is a cosmetic issue only, and does not affect the actual uninstallation process.)

Fix: Uninstalling a software can cause a log file to be created at user's home directory, instead of jv16 PowerTools installation directory.

Fix: If uninstalling jv16 PowerTools, the software's background process (jv16pt_PreWorker2.exe) could remain running in the background and therefore not deleted during the uninstallation.

Fix: Uninstalling certain software can make the system to reboot, as jv16 PowerTools fails to select the "manually reboot later" option from the software's uninstaller.

Fix: FileZilla was listed twice by the Software Uninstaller (as "FileZilla" and "FileZilla Client").

NOTE: The original build 1919 release contained a bug which caused many users to see a "Range Check Error" while using the Clean and SpeedUp My Computer scan. The issue was fixed with the 1920 build, released few hours after the original release based on the bug reports we received from our users. This issue did not show up in our testing and we are very sorry about it getting through our quality control process. We will change our process to ensure this will not happen again.

When running Registry Cleaner a Bug message is showing during the scan.

An automated bug report has been sent via email.

I already mentioned the Bug message in Registry Cleaner in a previous post.

I uninstalled version 1919 and deleted the whole program directory (inclusive backups etc.). I reinstalled from scratch.

Initial setup is slower than previous version 1898.

License searching fails. Showing licenses at my name that are invalid. So trial version showing. Had to copy my valid License.dat file to the program directory.

I ran Registry Cleaner again. Same problem. During scan after some time Bug Message is showing.

Version 1919 is not a good version and worse than the previous version 1898. So, I uninstalled it and went back to version 1898.

I been trying to run "Speed up my computer's startup" with this version 4.2.0.1919 and 4.2.0.1920(updated today) while running Window 10 version 1803 OS build 17134.376 (and the previous builds). All I get is a momentary loading then back to the main tool screen. I have been having this problem for a while, I just have not had the time to look into it. I noticed there was no system startup time listed. The startup optimizer is turn on, as displayed in "Clean and Speedup My Computer" screen. No setting has been changed, I always run with the default settings.

Thank you for reporting! The "Bug message" you mention was a bug in the 1919 version that did not show in our testing, but with the help of our users reporting the bug to us, we were able to fix it and the fix was included in build 1920 which was released shortly after the 1919. I suspect this is the same reason why the Initial Setup is slower as well.

Your license has been blacklisted, as it has been shared in pirated software download sites, as we discussed with you earlier. That is why your license is not accepted by the new version. Can you please let me know with a private message of another email address we could use to issue you of a new license?

Nothing to do, the same Bug Message is showing as mentioned in my posts above for version 1919.

Not fixed in version 1920.

Initial setup is as slow as in version 1919.

So, nothing is fixed :

Returned to version 1898 and will not install later versions anymore. They just didn't fix anything

I also experienced Initial Setup being very slow after the install. Then it crashed. To make matters worse PowerTools restarted while I was in the middle of filling out the bug report and I have no idea if the bug report was actually sent.

I'm a longtime PowerTools user and I'm very disappointed with the quality of this release.

Are you referring to the version 4.2.0.1920 or 4.2.0.1919?

Oké, I understand. But what about that Access Violation error. Is it possible to fix this one?

4.2.0.1920 - I downloaded and installed it just a few minutes before my post.

Today I have executed Clean & SpeedUp My Computer a couple of times and no error message shown at all 8)

The tool finished in 2 min and 20 sec. That's rather fast and without errors

I don't know what was causing the Access Violation error yesterday. I really didn't change anything to my system.

I will continue running the tool at regular times and see what's happening. Then I'll let it know here.

Just a quick update: We now have one system in which jv16 PowerTools shows the error message during scan. With this system, we can find and fix the issue! Please stay tuned.

Yes, I do have an AMD Ryzen 7, as you can see in my signature.

Just a quick update: I believe we now have a version that has this bug fixed. The previous version crashes (i.e. does not run without showing an error message during a scan) on our two new AMD based test setups, the new version runs without any issues.

The new version will next go to our extended internal testing and if it passes, we will release it here in this thread as a private build for anyone experiencing the issue to try.
