Here is a complete list of bug fixes and improvements that we did since jv16 PowerTools – Version 4.2.0.1845 was last released on July 27th, 2018:

Bug Fixes

Fix: Running the Clean and SpeedUp My Computer may show an Access Violation error message relating to TFilenameExtractor.FinalizeResultList.

Fix: Using the Custom Error Fixing feature in Clean and SpeedUp My Computer may show an Access Violation error message.

Fix: Running the Software Uninstaller can show an error message about Cannot create file ...\Backups\IS_GenLog2.log

Fix: Running the software can display an Integer Overflow error message.

Fix: Clean and SpeedUp My Computer's broken shortcut scan does not honor the Never Show Again feature. Items which are hidden by Right Click > "Never show again" are still shown.

Fix: Initial Setup does not complete on certain systems.

Fix: Opening of tools can have a long (over 5 second) delay with the "Loading, please wait" text on screen before the tool actually opens.

Fix: The software might not accept license data via My Account saying it failed to download the license.

Hot Fix (added for 4.2.0.1883 just after the release of 4.2.0.1882): The software can display an error message about a range check error when started.

Feature Improvements

Improvement: Improved the accuracy of detecting installed software from the system, this will improve the results of the Software Uninstaller and Clean and SpeedUp My Computer.

Improvement: Updated 3rd party libraries used within the software to their new versions.

Improvement: General stability improvements.

Improvement: Improved compatibility with NVIDIA and AMD Radeon graphics cards and drivers.

Improvement: Improved compatibility with Dashlane password manager.

The problems I’ve mentioned previously are still there, the scanning just doesn’t work/complete, closing the program crashes it with a not responding error.

I've installed v.4.2.0.1882 on top of v.4.2.0.1845 (Win7 x64 Pro), and it won't launch - a bug report has been submitted.

I lost 2 hours of my life today, after installing a update 4.2.0.1883.

I uninstall old version, and install new. Then, I test, and I see :

Privacy Tools -> History Cleaner - NO WORK.

Program says:

: Failed to access "C:\Program Files (x86)\jv16 PowerTools\Settings\HistoryCleaner.xdat"!

Look on scrinshots.

On one machine this version completes clean and speedup but results in 0% registry integrity. Repeating the clean and speedup does not fix this. Optimizer, compacter and performance tweaks selected.Better than the previous version which wouldn't even install.

On the other machine this version installs but doesn't complete. Hangs when aborted. Impossible to use.

Ditto - as above plus, reg compact doesn't work when using Clean and Speedup or Reg Cleaner on reboot.

I've had this happen too. Please post the solution here if it's something simple. Or should I straight up contact the support too?

Contact support. I’ve tried everything from re-adding the stated files to Windows Defender & MalwareBytes to adding the entire JV 16 folder & nothing works. JV 16 works for several scans then has a ‘go slow’. This starts after stating these same files require adding to the exclusion list of any anti virus software. Re-adding these files makes no difference.

So far support have replied saying they’ve passed the backup folder to the respective department & expect a resolution in the next update.
