I am a legit owner of this program and was a loyal fan for many years. I have never had any issues with it, but now it seems like I do. I like to optimize my PC and get rid of things I do not use. I used a tool called MSMG Toolkit (similar to NLite, but more advanced IMO) to get rid of many of Windows 10 (Creator's Update) Apps and functions like Windows Defender, Holographic Projection Apps, Cortana Search, and of course worthless Windows 10 Store Apps, none of which were vital to the OS or any software I used OR SO I THOUGHT. One of the functions I excised with great pleasure from my custom Windows 10 Install.wim image was System Restore, something that I have never used and always had disabled. I make plenty of backups using Acronis True Image, which is a far reliable method to preserve the state of the OS than relying on System Restore.
When I install the very latest version of jv16 PowerTools 2017, I get an error that it cannot find SrClient.dll in its default Windows directory. My research indicates this file is required for System Restore. It makes sense for this tool to require the OS to have System Restore, but I have a ton of software, none of it has any problems with me not having System Restore, except for this program... System Restore was removed cleanly and therefore DISM RestoreHealth and SFC /ScanNow commands show 0 problems, even though System Restore is gone completely and all files and registry related to it.
What do I do now? I don't want to spend hours making another Install.wim with System Restore included, re-installing my OS, all the software, applying all the settings and tweaks, etc. just to make jv16 work, BUT I do not want to ditch this tool, especially since I paid for it...
I am sure there is a way to bypass jv16 verification of SrClient.dll in System32 & SysWOW64 directories and other files related to System Restore. Could someone help?
