An updated version of jv16 PowerTools 2017 has been released. The latest version number is 4.1.0.1689.

To update right now, you should download the latest version from our website and install it from scratch or even on top of any already installed version of jv16 PowerTools 2017.

If you are still running jv16 PowerTools X, jv16 PowerTools 2014 or any earlier version, please note that these older products are no longer maintained or updated and may not be fully compatible with most recent updates of Windows.

To get the best experience from our work please install jv16 PowerTools 2017 and make sure that you set it to a new directory (do not install in the same directory as jv16 PowerTools X, jv16 PowerTools 2014 or any earlier versions).

Bug Fixes

Fix: The Initial Setup can crash or freeze in some systems and this problem can prevent the use of the software altogether.

Fix: It’s not possible to use the File Finder to search files from the root of any hard disk drive, such as from C:\

Fix: The Registry Finder does not find any items from the registry.

Fix: If Find My License is used many times, it can fail without showing an error message.

Fix: Find My License and My Account features can show “not responding” error message while they are downloading user’s license information.

Fix: Fixed a typo from the English translation.

Improvements

Improvement: The software’s user interface is now more responsive.

Improvement: Improved the software’s compatibility with old Corel products.

Improvement: The Initial Setup runs up to 40% faster.

Improvement: The Clean and Fix My Computer runs up to 20% faster.

Improvement: Running an anti-virus or anti-malware software can slow down the use of jv16 PowerTools. PowerTools now attempts to automatically detect if it is running slower than normal and if so, it will display a recommendation to add jv16 PowerTools to the exclusion list of the running anti-virus or anti-malware software.

I have just Tried this New Version (4.1.0.1689) and it took me more than 1 hour to run and fix in registry cleaner, this was done in two different computers running windows 7 x64... what is happening with this supposedly much faster update?

Tried it out: not completely awful so far, but still too early to tell...

Registry Finder.

Entered my search term, ran the tool.

When it found all the entries matching my search term, I selected All and clicked Delete.

The popup asked if I wanted to backup, I clicked No.

Then I noticed in the window at the bottom errors about failing to backup, AND, nothing was deleted.

SO.... I started PTX, ran the same sequence, and it worked properly.

In my opinion; PT2017 appears to be in constant BETA, and I believe it will never work properly.

For me, the main thing is cleaning registry .. the rest is accessory

Why not make optimized and portable executables?

The user could choose the module to be executed

Current software "inflates" and slows down versions to new versions

We are far from the first JV16 that had excited us!

Amongst all the above one wonders why when doing a "check for updates" using v. 4.1.0.1657 it states I have the latest version, and on the web site download page there doesn't seem to be any notice of just which version one is downloading. The only reason I even know a newer version exists is through serendipity, coming here to find out just why I can't get a response from the support team as to why I can't update to the VIP paid version I finally broke down last year and bought, on one laptop. The instructions in the thread about this issue doesn't state whether or not resetting on one pc affects the other two I have. Go figure.

An unused feature doesn't use any CPU power, the only effect it has is to increase the memory and disk space usage of the software, which are still very low. If you compare the development of the file size between different jv16 PowerTools versions or just compare the disk space or memory footprint of jv16 PowerTools against most of its competitors, you will see that jv16 PowerTools is one of the most lightweight product of its kind.

Execution speed is a serious problem. I have time to fix supper, eat it and have some sweets. How about trying this; load up some business programs (other than Microsoft), add some little known art/business programs, add some home programs, then add online gaming (not the major stuff, just small free card games, the ones with adds), add more than one member of the family ----------- now, mix it all up. Now, add not shutting down the computer properly, add a couple of power failures, etc., you know, add real life. What do you get? A whole pile of useless entries and mysteries why things don't work properly.

With all due respect ... get this program out into the real world, not just beta testers. A perfectly running computer does not need JV16-2017. A computer nerd (as I am when I want to be) doesn't need JV16-2017 on their dedicated machine(s). You may be listening to the wrong people regarding improvements (no offence). Now you have a turtle rather than a smooth race horse. Watch out or you'll have a snail.

KISS, "keep it simple, stupid" is an old phrase that has proven worthy of repeating over and over again. JV16 has grown into a monster. Beware of the dog that bites, or beware of the breeze that causes the stack of cards to fall. Too slow and even I will be out of here. Right now JV16-2017 is at the top of the stack of cards. If these anomalies keep up, where will it be tomorrow or next year.

Remember too that too many cooks spoil the broth, or soup.

It may be time to take a break, take stock and regroup. Right now, the old "RegCleaner" is beginning to look better and better. More so even than JV16-X, which you no longer support, I understand. Good luck.

X has been the pinnacle. The later versions; rapidly going downhill.

If the developers would listen, I would suggest a 'Lite' version, with only the necessary registry functions, and without the extra B.S.

You can safely reset your older PC without having any effect on the installation or licensing of jv16 PowerTools on any other PC running the software.
