Here we go again. Very serious lock-ups on all services. I'm getting a (not responding) on everything. It simply freezes. I've tried every trick I know but nothing works. This began with the version above. Although there have been incidents (not responding) in the recent past, it's nothing like a complete freeze-up which is happening now. So, I am completely unable to use JV16-2017.

Has anyone thought of a 64-bit version, also, why isn't JV-16 running as Administrator and why do I have to approve "jv16pt_PreWorker1.exe" every time the computer starts/restarts? That didn't happen before the above version. I also tried to start JV16 as Administrator but there was absolutely no change in the above actions.

Be careful things are becoming very unstable.

2017 (every build) is simply not doing what I need.

To start JV16-2017 I tried running it as an Administrator, again, and it started. For some unknown reason, seriously as nothing was changed/modified, JV16-2017 is working again, or rather worked again. I have more checks to make. Windows updates (KB890830) 2/22/2017 for x64 edition, (KB4010250) 2/21/2017 for x64-based systems, and (KB3211320) 1/25/17 for x64-based systems, all fit in this time frame. Note that the first update was only 2 days ago (written Feb 24/17). Coincident? Was it a correction to an earlier update? I'll leave it for Macecraft to figure out.

However, "JV16pt_preworker1.exe" still requires permission to run.

Yep. After two or three re-installs of the latest version, it still freezes up. Even when it was working, it didn't last more than a couple of days before the problems began again. So, what's the deal? Nobody tests these new versions before they get sent out to people? I've been using JV16 Power Tools for many years, but now the program is useless to me.

And you know what? I don't even miss it. With this much trouble, what's the point?

Well, if this was the only program having problems I'd say yes to all the criticism. However, it's not the only program I have that's acting up. Everything is as secure as I can get it --- nothing, these days, is completely safe --- but, these little updates from Microsoft seem to appear, then things go wrong with one program or another. Especially their software security updates for Windows Defender. Enough said !!!

I'm sorry to hear about the issue! We will try to get it fixed for the next build. The problem is that this issue is not generic, in other words, it does not occur in every system. We did fix issues relating to this sort of problem for the 1681 build but it sounds like the problem isn't fully fixed yet.

Can you provide step-by-step instructions how to reproduce this problem? Also, when you say you get "not responding", does it mean the software locks up in a way it does not continue to work if you wait a moment, or is it more of a cosmetic issue where the software keeps working but it merely displays the "not responding" message sometimes?

As to "why isn't JV-16 running as Administrator" issue, how do you determine that the software is not running as administrator privileges?

"and why do I have to approve "jv16pt_PreWorker1.exe" " What kind of approval does your system ask? Are you sure it is the standard Windows query or could this be displayed by a third party software, such as an anti virus or a firewall software? This happens quite often with third party software.

Since Macecraft didn't seem to be doing anything about fixing the hang-ups in JV16 2017, I uninstalled it and re-installed JV16 X. Not only does X work perfectly for me, it's about ten times faster than 2017.

Not Responding; It freezes. Microsoft's use of Not Responding is very misleading, however, I waited quite some time before giving up --- 5-10 minutes or more. Not Responding should mean exactly that --- Not Responding --- not still loading. Even when loading another program this phrase appears, why? ... as that program does eventually load. I repeat, JV16-2017 froze. Since that later MS update it seems to be fine. But, it didn't work until Microsoft supplied that update.

Yes, I have to authorize "Preworker 1" every time the computer starts. It is not installed automatically as are the other preloaded programs, cleanly. No matter if it is a cold start or a reset, Preworker 1 must get authorization by me clicking on it --- as if I were starting it after the computer had completed its startup (a regular program). Incidentally, other programs are pre-loaded after Preworker 1 is authorized. Everything stops until I authorize Preworker 1.

One more thing, is "Registry Cleaner" the same as "Clean & Fix My Computer?" When I use Reg Cleaner it shows as Clean & Fix that is running? If they are the same isn't that redundant.

Added: I almost forgot to mention that there is still a problem keeping Corel WordPerfect X8 working after cleaning and fixing the computer. It won't start and comes back with "it has been installed incorrectly." So, I have to reinstall and "repair" the suite of programs. I thought this was fixed? This also happens with Reg Cleaner!
