I have been a VIP user of this program since 2004 I believe, but have never used the Speed Up Startup feature. But with all the hype, and since the registry cleaner is taking so long that I'm no longer using IT, I thought I'd try to get some good out of the new version by trying speeding up my startup.
Terrible. Now I remember why I never used it before.
First, there's no intelligence to it. At least none that I can see. Second, once a program is "hidden" by being delay'd, if that program updates itself, you now have TWO startups. That doesn't speed anything up, it actually slows things down. While the inital reboot was indeed faster, within a week it was worse than it was before, and turning it off actually sped things back up.
I was able to use AutoRuns to find the duplicate startups and delete them (something I couldn't do while they were delayed.
I must admit I am feeling inclinded to join those who are drifting towards abandoning this product.
A shame, really.
