jv16 PWT clobbers Corel Office X7 suite

Running JV16 PWT 2017's (ver. 4.1.0.1657) clean and speed up computer tool's Fix function clobbers Corel 's WP Office X7 suite.

Procedure: Run program & have the tool analyze the Registry, to fix.

Results: Even at safe level, and then have it fix errors, WordPerfect in the Corel X7 suite misbehaves afterward. Word Perfect reports that the suite was installed incorrectly, won't do screen I/O, and has to be killed. Even restoring the backup I made before OKing the fix doesn't restore the suite's functionality. I have to revert using a system restore point.

It may be that X7 has a bunch of Registry settings that are empty, only their PRESENCE is necessary, and JV16 sees the empty values, and deletes them. At any rate, I'd suggest installing the suite, use it for some trivial work, then run JV16 and fix the Registry to see if you can replicate this behavior.

I'm a technically adept user, so you can ask me for anything in troubleshooting this to fix it. I'm running Win 10 Pro x64 1067 build 14393.693 fully up to date with 4GM RAM.

I've had to exclude "Corel" "WordPerfect" "QuattroPro" from my jvPT searches pretty much since jvPT first came out.

Corel Office puts in a bunch of empty directories & registry stubs that mess up the suite if deleted.

Just put those exclusions in (and Presentations if you use that) and you should be fine.

The issue relating to jv16 PowerTools and Corel products in some systems has already been fixed in the most current version of PowerTools. Please do let me know if the problem still occurs with the latest version.

I suspect that this problem has also affected my Corel WinDVD pro 12, all was working fine until I tried installing the new sp1/patch, install failed saying something about not being able to find a .tmp file, I tried uninstalling the entire program but that also failed, I manually removed but now cannot reinstall.

I reinstalled WinDVD pro 11 & all service packs/updates with no problem.

To what version of jv16 PowerTools are you referring to? As said, the mentioned problem should already be fixed in the 4.1.0.1681 version of jv16 PowerTools.

I'm sure it was 1681 however I still cannot reinstall WinDVD 12.

That is odd. Can you let me know what version of Windows are you using, so we can re-create this environment in our test systems and see if we can reproduce the problem.
