Ist run of new JV16

I'm a long term user of JV16 powertools and have no complaints. I normally run jv16 "clean registery" daily and did so before updating to the recently released 4.0.0.1506 (my OS is windows 10 - upgraded from windows 7 service pack 1 back in November 2015). There's usually 20 to 30 enteries that I delete. After updating I ran "clean and fix my computer" and 1865 bad entries appeared after about 10 minutes activity. I exited without doing anything, checked my settings (on extra safe) and ran it agian with the same result. I went ahead and deleted them and hundreds didn't delete until JV16 ran after "restart" when hundreds of registery entries were deleted.

My windows started ok but was behaving badly... no seach, no start menu, right click with mouse on taskbar icons gave no result.

Fortunately I'd imaged my disk after updating JV16 and was able to recover functionality that way.

I have just run JV16 again, set on "extra safe" and again nearly 2000, 80% bad, entries appeared. I have not used JV16 but it is now effectively useless to me after being a major part of my computer hygene for the last 8 or 9 years.

I am having the same exact thing happen when I run it also on Windows 10, I want the old version back that works.

Same problem here with version 1506 on one of my two Windows 10 computers.

Don´t know what´makes the difference betweeen both pcs. Similar software, similar hardware.

Windows 10 start menu, info center, soundmix button gone after "Clean & Fix my computer" with extra safe settings and automatic repair.

Luckily I created a Windows 10 restore point before. The JV16 backup didn´t help to solve the problem.

JV16 exported lines (nearly 2000 lines) were kind of:

HKCR\AppX04g0mbrz4mkc6e879rpf6qk6te730jfv\Application\ : ApplicationIcon, 20, File or Folder "e:\Microsoft.XboxApp\Files\Assets\GamesXboxHubAppList.png" doesn´t exist

My programs and apps aren´t on e:\ but on c:\

If i looked up correctly with regedit, the corresponding entry in my Windows 10 registry rather reads

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppX04g0mbrz4mkc6e879rpf6qk6te730jfv\Application

ApplicationIcon REG_SZ @{Microsoft.XboxApp_14.14.16008.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe?ms-resource://Microsoft.XboxApp/Files/Assets/GamesXboxHubAppList.png}

No idea, why JV16X 1506 interpretes such @{ entries as e:\ entries.

Exactly same problem ..

I use Windows 10 Home Edition

1506 version found 780 invalid keys pointing to "e:\" directory that does not exist. By opening the key with regedit, this is a "@" displayed instead of "e:\"

Scanning is slower..

Back to 1502 version that does not have this problem

Problem seems to be fixed with new version 4.0.0.1513.

Recognition of obsolete registry entries seems to have improved. Version 1513 found additional entries compared to version 1502. Recognition seems correct.

Thank you for the feedback! There indeed was a problem with an earlier version of jv16 PowerTools X that caused this kind of problem with some Windows 10 system. The problem was not generic, that is, it did not occur in all Windows 10 systems, that is why it took so long for us to fix and I do apologize for that. But I'm glad to say the issue is already fixed in the latest PT X, as mentioned by ararat.

Their looks to be anew version out. 4.0.0.1514. If you would to see what new major version version looks like you can try beta 3 (4.1.0.1555). Hopefully this new major will work with the new version of Windows 10 that will come out this summer. They are calling it Windows 10 Anniversary. You can get now in preview if you would like to see what they have been working on. It is the next major release of 10 and it will be free to upgrade to it. You can check it out here.

Are you referring to version 4.0.0.1514 that was released a couple of days ago? What do you exactly mean by "ruined"? If you still have an instance of jv16 PowerTools installed in your system that ruined your Start menu, could you please create zip file of the entire contents of the \Backups directory (By default at: c:\Program Files (x86)\jv16 PowerTools X\Backups) and send it to me via a Private Message? You can upload the file to WeTransfer.com, if it's too big to send directly. Thank you.

Long time JV16 user, installed the latest JVI6 X today.

I've found that running registry cleaner in aggressive mode can corrupt Windows 10 Start button/menu, safer mode doesn't seem to have this effect.

On the occasions that this has happened I've reinstated the start button features manually.

This error occurred on my system for all versions that came after 1502, including the current version in 1514 !!

The zip - file, I can not send you because my system was so unable to work and I have played back the backup previously created!

Are you referring to running the product in aggressive mode or normal mode? Can you please install the latest version of PowerTools X (1514), run the Clean And Fix My Computer's scan without removing anything or applying any fixes, and select File > Save List As and send the saved items here or directly to me via a Private Message so I could take a closer look?

Thank you for sending the data. Based on the data you sent, I could see that you are using jv16 PowerTools X version 4.0.0.1514. The issue relating to Windows Start Menu has already been fixed in the currently latest version of the software.

In regards of the issue relating Logitech Webcam software, I would recommend you to in the future use jv16 PowerTools with the words "logitech" and "webcam" written to the Clean And Fix My Computer's Ignore Words feature.

Unfortunately, up to now, this issue has proven to be not generic, which means very difficult if not very unlikely to reproduce on other systems than the ones where it is actually reported.
