Crash report:

Opened beta2 after restart (Mullvad VPN not running) and software crashed

This is an update of similar crashes happening. I had the software crash today after software was uninstalled. After restarting from the crash screen, JV16 opens back up into a locked state; used task manager to shutdown. This may be caused by same issue before but I thought sending another backup may expose other issues.

BUT wait ! why do you not accept pdf files as an attachment???

I can understand how frustrating it must be to have only 96% Registry Health score, given your aggressive use of the cleaning engine. In order to help us pinpoint the bug in question (if any), I would like to ask that you please navigate to our product's installation folder, ZIP the entire Backup directory and send the .zip file to us for investigation. Since sending ZIP files can cause problems with Spam filters and anti-virus products, you should send it by uploading it to some web service such as https://www.sendspace.com/ and link to me privately via the forums.

If you have restored your system since the problems have occurred, you could also run PowerTools 2016 - Beta 2 again but instead of cleaning the system, only perform the scan (Clean and SpeedUp My Computer) and when it's finished, go to File -> Save List As and send the saved list to me.

This would provide me more technical details of what has happened and would help me to solve the problem.

We have received few similar reports and we are currently working at implementing a bug fix. This upcoming Release Candidate version of jv16 PowerTools 2016 will include a fix for this problem.

For the record: the problem is not related to any VPN software so you can safely use jv16 PowerTools X or jv16 PowerTools 2016 - Beta 2 alongside any such 3rd party software.

When releasing a new product version, we first and foremost test it on Windows XP, Windows 10 and then everything in between. For this reason, your report, even if originating from Windows XP, is gladly taken into consideration. Feel free to report to us any Windows XP related problems in the future as we do plan to ensure compatibility with this operating system for as long as there are still an important part of our users running it.

Regarding your question on columns: have your tried to reposition them using their column separators? Is there any problem in doing so and your side?

Unfortunately, due to security reasons, we cannot accept uploading of PDF files to any thread posts. This file format is known to be susceptible to malware infections (Adobe PDF sandbox bypass) and could easily represent a problem for our community.

The beta 2 software has locked up and I had to use task manager to end task. This has happened a few times and I have attached the zip file. I usually run a VPN (Mullvad) and I suspect this may be involved. I will try to duplicate without running the VPN and report.

The debug data you sent shows an error message "EFOpenError - Cannot open file", this issue is now fixed, thank you for reporting! The issue might be relating to the software locking up that you reported. The fix will be included to the next released build (Beta 3).

The software should be fully compatible with WIndows XP, in fact, we are still testing our software with all Windows from Windows XP up to Windows 10 to ensure it is fully working and compatible.

Can you tell me the exact steps how to reproduce the problem? What happens if you try to resize the columns? Do notice that you cannot resize the last column (it is always stretched to fill the entire remaining space), but you should be able to resize the other columns.

you may or may not have this bug reported but I didn't see it. When viewing the Program from the main screen and trying to read the materials by scrolling down, the program keeps jumping to the top of the page while I'm trying to read it.

We have already received similar reports of this problem. The issue should be fixed in the upcoming Beta 3 version. Thank you for being part of our forums community!

I tested the "Speed up my computer's startup" module. It automatically stopped a lot of things from starting at boot but I could no longer get them to start (and leave an icon in the tray) without reinstalling them. In Jv16 they are showing as enabled at startup (Also in Ccleaner and Wisecare) but they just don't load

I am sending the backup privately but I am anxious to know HOW they were turned off so I can re-enable them again rather than reinstall I do nopt remember it asking me anything or giving choices, but I am not going into that module again until I hear back

I have received the data you sent via a private message. Thank you very much for sending it, we will study it and find out what is causing the problems you report. To undo the changes, simply open jv16 PowerTools' Startup Optimizer and choose to disable it.

This is a recommendation for a modification to the way jv16 PT 2016 handles the maintenance of the system cache.

With Windows 10 forcing out new builds and the accumulative updates routinely and frequently, it would appear that jv16's stored cache can become out-of-date without the user really recognizing it.

It would be an enhancement to jv16's accuracy if jv16 stored the current Windows build number when the cache is built. Then if the Windows build number changes, jv16 should force a rebuild to the cache the next time jv16 is run/executed. Currently jv16 appears to rebuild the cache on a time frequency of every xx days. This should be retained and the Windows build number incorporated as an additional rebuild requirement.

I cannot get the file system health above 56% after running clean computer and file cleaner (more than once).
