Windows 10 update will not run

Is it possible jv16 powertools X did something to my win 7 registry that prevents the windows 10 update from installing? Other windows updates run with no problem. I made a win 10 install flashdrive that works on other machines but not my two that have been optimized by powertools X. The setup.exe just does not run run. No error messages are shown. Is this just coincidence? Can this problem be fixed with powertools? Thanks!

I have experienced the same problem where 2 PCs that have used jv16 PowerTools X. The third PC that did not use jv16 PowerTools X had no problems upgrading to Windows 10.

Is this a problem others have experienced?

Why no response from Macecraft?

Does anyone know of a fix?

I had this problem, and followed the error links that were generated when it wouldn't install.

I was directed by one link (was it Microsoft Answers?) to "Tweaking.com Windows Repair" utility. I followed instructions and ran it and after that, Windows 10 loaded problem free.

I have investigated further on the Microsoft technical support forums for you and it seems there was no sure cure for this error at the time of my research. Try these just in case, they may not help however will not harm:

This worked for me. Thank you so much for pointing out this utility. After days of searching for a fix, this is the only fix that I found that actually worked.

Thank you from me too. Have been trying to update to Win 10 for several weeks without success but this worked for me.

Did not work for me on two Acer Aspire 5740-6378. Also tried the other remedies above, no luck so far and Microsoft Support is stumped.

I have the same experience - Tweaking did a lot of "stuff" to my machine, broke a few settings I had made intentionally (account control, etc.) and still didn't allow Win 10 to install. Even made an install DVD which worked on one machine but not another. However, both were running Power Tools X, so I can't say Macecraft is involved.

I ran jv tools and it wanted to delete this folder:

C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources

However, that is the hidden Windows 10 install folder containing the ~2+GB installation files.

The path "C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources" is now ignored by jv16 PowerTools and this built-in configuration will be available to all users starting with the next build.
