Desktop files erased

After a file cleaning and a register compacting I found that most of my desktop files were deleted, leaving only a few shortcuts and folders (emty folders...).

The backup recovery hangs and crashes, and neither the windows recovery system from several hour before recovered the missing files...

I'm sorry to hear about the problem!

But could you please tell me did you use the File Cleaner of the product, or some other features in addition to the mentioned Registry Compactor?

Are you also stating that also Windows System Recovery didn't work?

Hi, the I used first the file cleaner and then the registry compactor.

The windows recovery system worked for the computer configurations, but didn't recover the missing files.

I recovered most of them with a specific file recovery system.

Now I'm encountering problems with outlook, it seems to have lost all the mail indexing (I can see, read and write mails but cannot use the search function)

In order to test the backup function of the File cleaner I ran File cleaner with the default settings on c:\

Scan listed 209 files,

I deleted 8 files with a backup,

Ran file cleaner for a second time, scan list now shows 201 items,

Restored the backup taken while erasing the 8 files,

Backup restored completely, according to the messages,

Unfortunately I than deleted the backup file of the 8 files,

Whatever I do, the 8 restored files do not reappear anymore in the File cleaner scan list.

The files do not reappear in the File Cleaner's result list because File Cleaner automatically skips files that have been modified recently. Removing and restoring the files causes the files' date attributes to change, and that is why they will be listed in File Cleaner again only after several days.
