i tried to "remove" the 20-odd "extraneous" items displayed in the "add/remove" section of the "registry manager".. at first they appoeared to be removed, but after re-opening the window, all of the extraneous items that were supposedly removed were still there.. i used jvpt1.4 to actually remove the extraneous items displayed in jv16pt2005.. (removing the extraneous items was not necessary in jvpt1.4 since, in jv16pt1.4, there was an option to not display the extraneous items)

also, i notice that the bug that was in the original release of jv16pt2005, where the display-window for "installed software", in the "registry manager", was not functioning properly, has returned in the latest release of jv16pt2005, build 1.5.0.277..

It's not recommended nor safe to remove items from the Registry Manager simply because they seem "odd" or "extraneous". This will sooner or later lead to serious trouble. You should only remove items you know you can remove.

But I will have to check out why the items weren't removed later today.

Redwolfe_98, do you mean some strange entries that arn't in the Windows 'Software Add/Remove', section?.

Becouse if that is the problem, than JV can't do anything about that i think.

I have the same with my Creative SB Live drivers. They leave an CLSID key the uninstall key in the registry. They have no options except an uninstall string.

Also, i had this with a Kodak camera software i had installed.

It showed some entries that wern't in the Windows 'Software Add/Remove' but were in JV16 v1.4.

They also had no other options then just a LogFile and/or UninstallString.

The only thing i can think of JV can do, is filter those out, and don't show them at all. But i think some uninstalls only add those two strings. So thats not an option.

thanks for the quick replies, and for the help.. just to be clear, i was removing the items from the list, not uninstalling them..

Removing those entries could make it imossible to uninstall some software, or to repair/update/upgrade some software that uses those key's.

Those entries i told about, i couldn't even remove them.

But i know where they belong to. So thats no problem.

But they arn't visible in Reg Supreme (Pro). Only in PT2k5.

So mabye JV can add an option to show them if we want, or just hide them at all.

on second thought, i should have just left those items alone, and not worried about them.. i don't know what problems may arise from removing them.. i listed the "extraneous" items in another thread..

i am just glad to see that jouni is on top of everything.. :)
