Can not delete invalid entries jv16 2012

After upgrading and using clean and fix there are a lot of errors and hardly anything is fixed nor can I manually delete invalid entries or empty folders or the like. Can someone please assist and explain the behavior. surely it must work better than it appears? I can find no reference to any of this here or in the manual...

It is not immediately obvious to the uninitiated as to why you should be prevented from deleting "empty folders" "useless empty keys" "useless file extensions" etc etc ?

How many of these entries in each of the above categories do you find that cannot be fixed/deleted?

Did this occur just after the upgrade to jv16PT 2012 version 1173? Did you install version 1173 over a previous version?

jv16PT Version 1173 needs a new clean install, the previous jv16 version needs to be uninstalled first!

In the past there were a few issues with some registry items that needed manual change of their permissions before they could be deleted/fixed and

their is still one known issue with some entries found by 'Software Deep Trace' which cannot be deleted until you manually change their ownership/permission using a procedure made by user tullik.

JV16 2012 installed itself in to a new folder and JV16 2011 is still installed and working also has no trouble deleting items.

Not sure if a new folder qualifies for a clean install, JV16 2012 did the install without input from myself as I recall.

I am reluctant to delete jv16 2011 as it seems to be working i.e. allows you to delete folders etc.

However if you recommend deleting 2011, installed in a separate folder, I will do that.

There are about 600 of these entries distributed about equally in most categories. I'll try a cut and paste job to give you some idea as I don't know if this looks normal or not after fix and clean, but I would think it does not look pretty. :

I can not detect any difference between the two versions in the "Fix and clean" operation.

Any advice is very much appreciated.

Do you mean it's impossible to let all of those entries fix or delete after selecting all of them and then clicking on "Fix"?

1. If jv16PT 2012 v1173 is installed in a separate (different) folder next to jv16PT 2011 b1053, than that is OK and there is NO NEED to uninstall jv16PT 2011 b1053.

2. Does jv16PT 2012 b1053 fix/delete all these 600 entries while jv16PT 2012 b1173 does not? I am sure development would like to know about this!

3. Please save the jv16PT 2012 "Clean and Fix my Computer" (CFMC) scan result list in a .txt file.

To create a .txt file go to the top left corner of the CFMC scan result list click 'File' and than click 'Save list as...'. ZIP the saved .txt file and attach the zipped file to this forum thread.

(After that you can delete from this forum thread the attached long 'cut and past' scan list.)

After ticking one box and trying to delete a useless entry 2012 will not delete the entry.

JV16 2011 will delete.

I have only ever tried to delete two entries manually after CFMC and ticking the boxes. I have not been game enough to do it wholesale.

This is really weird:

1. Does'nt jv16PT 2012 v1173 respond with an error message when it fails to fix/delete a 'ticked' entry?

2. Could there be a conflict with AVG not allowing jv16PT 2012 v1173 to fix/delete items? Could you try to disable AVG before you fix/delete items?

3. Try to uninstall jv16PT 2012, delete the installation folder and reinstall jv16PT 2012 in a new folder. (start jv16 2012 from scratch)

What happens when you select all the found entries and then click on "Fix"?

Why do you try to select one entry by one and then fix or delete them?

1. Personally I never encountered problems while deleting useless empty key's using CFMC 2012 with 'normal system scan policy' (with backup taken!)

2. IMHO prompting for backups is the default after installation. Look in -> settings -> backups. Here you can specify the backup options, apparently changes were made after installation?

3. No it is not normal to get 'a few hundred errors' after a CFMC scan followed by a fix/delete action.

4. I would suggest to first do a clean install of jv16PT2012 b1173 (uninstall + delete of the jv16 installation directory) and see what that brings you.
