Registry Compactor - jv16 PT vers. 2.1.0.1173 - Win 7 32-bit

Hello, I was wondering how long the "registry compactor" application normally takes to finishup. I am running jv16 PT 2012 vers. 2.1.0.1173 on a Win 7 32-bit machine and the "Setup is preparing your computer for first use" screen has been up for about 2.5 hours now. Does this sound about right?

Should this be abnormal and my PC is hung, is there a safe way to get my PC back?

No this does not sound about right!

In my cases Registry Compactor runs in "minutes" for both XP, W7-64 and W7-32.

jv16PT Registry Compacter is taking backups before it starts. I think it is safe to reboot if your PC is stuck.

Did you see the small Command Prompt window (DOS box) that shows messages about analyzing/compacting hives?

This Command Prompt (DOS box) window shows you information about analyzing and compacting registry hives.

It should be displayed about a minute AFTER the "Setup is preparing your computer for first use" screen is displayed.

Leonardo, thanks for your reply. The Command Prompt window came up shortly after I started "registry compactor". But after hitting enter, the "Setup is preparing your computer for first use" screen came up and that had been the story since. I re-booted the PC, as you suggested, and all seems fine now. Thanks again for your help.
