Registry Cleaner freezes

On Windows 8 RTM 90 day trial 32-bit, Registry Cleaner Build 1173 freezes: it starts normally, The scanned items count increases up to a point and then stops. Windows Task Manager shows the jv16 process as "Not responding".

Any suggestions, such as clearing the cache, or anything else? Many thanks in advance.

Some additional information to the previous post: I have run Registry Cleaner both with the default engine setting and with the most aggressive setting. The freezing described occurs consistently with either setting on my PC. Restarting the PC does not help. I will appreciate any suggestion.

I have seen a similar thing during beta testing jv16PT-2012.

The registry scan stopped (not responding) on an registry entry jv16PT could not get authorization/permission for. Eventually the developer could fix this issue.

Do you get any information about the W8 registry entry on which the jv16PT scan stopped?

No, Registry Cleaner ran to completion once and then stopped at random times during the several runs that I made. I did not notice any specific entry.

You could run jv16PT 2012 in DEBUG mode: Press Ctrl+Shift after the start of jv16PT, to be followed by a restart of jv16PT.

DEBUG mode produces a Debuglog.html shortcut on your desktop. This Debuglog file is refreshed every time you restart jv16PT.

After a Registry Cleaner scan run which (randomly) has stopped, please attach the zipped debuglog.html file to this forum thread.

Because Windows 8 is not yet an official product I do not know if the developer (jv16) will analyze this attached Debuglog.html file

Since the developer (jv16) may not analyze the Debuglog, why don't we wait another month or so. The issue may be resolved by then.

I wonder if other W8 beta users encounter similar Registry Scan freeze problems using jv16PT-2012-b1173?

Yes, I can confirm a similar freeze of Build 1173 on Windows 8 Pro x64. The initial Registry scan completed but the 'Fix' process pretty soon locked — after ten minutes I gave up. This is a dual-boot system; on the more densely app-populated Windows 7 volume the 'Fix' process completes in under 2 minutes. I was able to abort and close the program normally, however.

New OS, new problems . . . !
