I understood that only for jv16PT FILE wiping the number of passes and the type of data written can be set, not for jv16PT DISK wiping.

Please do a Google search using the keyword string "disk wiping number of passes"

Version 2.1.0.1173 with 32-bit Windows 7 -- Disk Wiper

A minor issue:

Long path names are truncated in the "Last file wiped" field. See the Capture-DW.jpg below.

A question for Macecraft:

Does the Disk Wiper tool use the Settings tool File wiping settings? If not, what does it use?

W7-SP1-x64 with v2.1.0.1173:

Run Disk Wiping tool (free space) on disk C: -> after a while click 'Abort' -> restart the Disk Wiping action on C:\ -> this second disk wiping action on C: is almost immediately aborted too!

It seems that the previous 'Abort' action stays remembered.

A Stop/Start of jv16PT-b1173 is required to reset this remembered 'Abort'!

EDITED for XP-SP1:

Using XP the above mentioned 'Abort' process takes ~30 sec to complete. Trying to restart the Disk Wipe before this 30 sec expires results in an application error. See the zipped bugreport!

This is what the Handbook says:

The Disk Wiper deletes data from your hard drive to make it nearly impossible to restore. It accomplishes this by overwriting the data before freeing the space. The number of overwrites can be configured from the Settings

I see no difference between File wiping and Disk wiping as for the possibility to configure the number of overwrites in the Settings.

Unfortunately the Setting menu/window only refers to File wiping. Perhaps the icon text should be changed in Disk/File wiping?
