Registry Cleaner Fix runs empty floppy drive continuously

Just upgraded from Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit to 64 bit and did a first Reg Cleaner run. Something I'd never encountered before with XP or Win 7/32 was when I ran the Reg Cleaner fix, it engaged the empty floppy drive continuously during the whole clean. Why? It's noisy - and seemingly unnecessary.

Thanks. Hopefully, a fix is coming. Perhaps in the free version of 2012.

I've noticed two things about this very much more than annoying problem: 1) it slows the registry clean process enormously, adding minutes; and 2) if I click on a menu item (e.g, Help), the drive noise stops but then so does the operation until the menu is closed.
